Wallets Found in Heating Ducts

Just an interesting article about the base I live near:

[quote:44f86]CAMP ROBERTS, Calif. — Crews demolishing old military barracks on this sprawling base near Paso Robles stumbled on a surprising find: wallets.

Tumbling out of heating ducts suspended from the ceilings, the wallets were stuffed with remarkably well-preserved personal belongings dating from World War II and the Korean War.

Love letters. Religious medals. Base passes. High school identification cards. Driver's licenses. Dog tags. Snapshots. Tips for surviving an atomic blast.[/quote:44f86]

Your uncle developed cancer some 50 years after he was exposed. My Dad had cancer a couple of times and was never exposed. My Gradma had cancer half a dozen times and was never exposed or smoked.

He said a dozen types of cancer.

Are you honestly trying to argue that exposure to Nuclear activity/radiation isn't necessarily bad for you? Because that is fucking retarded.

published, I hope it is returned. That would be cool to give the wallets back to their owners after all these years.

bukdez 01-21-2006 02:12 PM

yeah, or their families, as many might have passed on...

i like how you bolded returned...

but the stuff should be properly documented as artifacts first and released in journal form at the least...

it's from like 60 years ago, not 2,000. What are we gonna learn that we don't already know?

geRV 01-21-2006 02:15 PM

What type of nude pics they kept in their wallets 60 years ago.

maybe some personal histories of soldiers, or some other small tidbit of info... people are interested in the historic value of many things, not just ancient...

also, whats left to learn from a 2000 year old wallet(or equivilent), not much... hence my roman coin collection...

No he said "like a dozen cancers developed in a few years" which is nowhere near as precise as a couple of times (stomach and brain) or half a dozen ( 6 times, and I'm not going to list them).

Have you ever heard of chemotherapy. That is when they expose you to radiation to kill the cancer. So sometimes exposure to radiation is considered "good" for you, by the medical establishment.

I wasn't trying to argue any point, except maybe that we don't know what causes cancer. Claiming that some exposure 50 years ago caused the cancer isn't scientific at all, but just a guess.
