X-Box Modding

Someone said you could run linux on there X-Box. I wanted to know if you could use the X-Box like a regular computer that would run windows but also still be able to play the systems games.
This would be an awesome feature.
Someone please tell me if you can or if it might be possible.

If you could put windows on an X-Box and make it work like a computer i would want to put a new HDD and more RAM, but would you need to get a bigger power supply to maintain the systems performance.
If this would work the X-Box would already be able to play MOHAA with the controler. This would be cool.
Tell me what u think.

You need a mod chip installed to run unsigned code.

As for right now you can run

Linux
win95
win98
win2000

There are also drivers so you can use a keyboard and mouse. You will need to modify a joy stick cable to use them. and no you can not use a keyboard and mouse with a game -yet

Check out:

From here you can find links to all the other info.

Remember this site if for modding and using code. Not intended for pirated games.

hey thanx
but can u play comp games on it ?
and can you still play regular x box games on it. plz tell me

rudedog 10-02-2002 04:55 PM

Yes and No. There are two ways to running Linux.

One is to completely install Linux and you can not go back. The other way it to boot into linux when you want to run Linux. when you want to play a game just boot with the game.

rudedog 10-04-2002 06:21 AM

LOL that's too funny ( your sig )

KTOG 10-04-2002 09:14 AM

I just read a whole bunch of crap about x-box modding and it sounds really cool even though i'm not a big fan of it. However i just heard that Microsoft just hired a mod-chip expert (what a suprise hake: ) that will be helping them make the X-Box mod-proof. Hopefully you bought a x-box prior to august 2002, anything after than has been been proven unmoddable.

sorry for the sig size, i'll eventually get rid of the old one...but i'll make whole gallery of them eventually if people want to use one. If some one wants a custom POAAC sig just PM me. :)

rudedog 10-05-2002 06:15 AM

That is terrible but too funny

I like that one. And it depicts the average age of someone saying owned in a game.

LOL that is priceless

Pyro 10-05-2002 02:04 PM

Great Job.
