Map is ready for testing Anyone who has signed up should have recieved and e-mail with a link The link is temporary till I get a better 1 Amount of downloading might be limited so if its down just try again or we will find another way of getting you pk3. We have been working hard on the beta.
May thanks to Akaidruid for helping out and running a server. Some errors have been found and will be corrected. So far this is what has been found: 1. Map pic in Score menu script directory is incorrect. 2. Scripting for Title has additional (") 3. Player standing on MG42 when turning. (upper left trench) 4. Complaints of DeathMatch spawns only on AXIS side of the map. These problem will be addressed and corrected. If you.. So scurry on over and pick it up.. take a look. see what you think should stay and what needs to be changed. |

I just had a look at your map.
It looks really, really good, but I'd like to say a few things...that's what beta testing is all about, isn't it? It could be a bit more foggy, or snipers will be a pure bugger on this map, especially on the objective version, where you have to wait the 5 minutes when you die. Please don't make it a multispawn objective map - they're horrible. Most people play objective because they like the more tactical part of it, which disappears on so many great user-made maps, because you're able to respawn. The barbed wire isn't solid. The smoke on the tank on the bridge, and the smoke (or whatever it is) under the bridge is blowing in different directions. The island thing is a good idea, but it doesn't look very good. What about adding a shore or something (like on omaha), and put the ocean level much further up? Would make it so much more realistic. I kept looking around for those airplanes - nice soundeffect! Awsome architecture - all of it - absolutely love it! I like the lighthouse, and how you've blocked off the top part of it, would be a pain in the ass to run all the way up there to kill some n00b at 999 All over I think it's a beautiful map! Oh..just one more thing; What about putting allies on defence on the objective version for once? Protecting some anti-aircraft guns or something? There's way too many maps where axis are meant to win, like The Hunt and V2 Rocket Facility, pluss heaps of user-made maps. |
well if I increase the fog any the buildings in the background tent to bleed in and out. making the horizon look stupid.
There is another type of fog I have yet to test out. see how that goes. Im thinking of making little darker. That will keep long range snipers away. from people i have played with so far. No one has really used the sniper rifle. I guess they like rushing the bridge more then camping. its hard for me to increase the sea level from the depth of the bridge structure, but I am currently trying new side designs to give it a better look. barbwire has not been scripted yet. I have it, got lasy and never completed. next beta will have working barbwire. The OBJ version will be allies attacking Axis. I dont want to spoil the objectives yet. But i will say this.. its differant. And yes. respawn will be turned off. |

No worries though, I got the map in the end and have gone through it a bit. I have only done it by myself so far, but from what I see its another well made map. Only regret is my anticipation of getting to the top of the lighthouse, only to be blocked off...lol. Clan has a practice tomorrow, so I'll throw your map on the server and we can try it out on full scale barrage. If thats ok with you? |

One being snipers id hate to see that map be turned into nothing but a sniper feest. the other is only one way across? I was thinking of a tunnel you can make under the bridge and itll come out inside the light house near the stairs? I know it sounds stupid but its just a thought. As for fps the only time i seen red was on the bridge passing the burning tank. Can you make the map bigger to hold 18 or more people? Seeing as how popular obj thunder is it would be nice to see something in the middle besides a bridge. Thats all i can think of for now. IF something else comes up ill post it here. Keep it up and would love to see future projects from you. Oh there is one more thing. THe rain. Can you include like a thunder storm like you did on obj thunder?

The thing is when i turn weather effects on my fps drop. I turn it off then i run fine. IF the map were to be bigger i love the sounds effects of planes dropping bombs all around.

nah, I reckon only one way across is good! Means axis have to concentrate on defending the bridge, and allies need teamwork to get over alive. The size of the map is just fine, but there's way too many possible sniper positions on the german side of the map. You should "remove" or block some of them, or give the allies more cover (ie in form of taller buildings facing the germans)..
I'll post some screenshots later showing some of the german sniper-positions you might want to get rid of. Also, get rid of the gates (the huge doors) leading out to nothing. It looks kinda stupid. If it wasn't closed that door could only be used for one thing, suicide jumping. I realise it would be alot of work if you had to change the bridge structure (besides the bridge itself looks really good), but the islands shouldn't be that high. Make a beach below or something would give it a more realistic look. I still think you should put the allies on defence - that would be a nice change to other maps. I don't see the problem if the map isn't based on actual events... -bender |
I know the map has plenty of sniper locations.
The thing i have pointed out to some people is that the positions, are good shot at people on the bridge itself. allies have very key sniper positions in there base as well. some of the major sniper postions will fall into more of a "common" area for a counter sniper to check. So it should even itself out. I understand the issue of snipers, and some players will use it. When I was laying out the map I was designing more of a rushing to the other side and kicking the enemies butts on there own turf kind of feel. First I need to get there.. I just dont want people to feel a downside of the map when its also just as fun to try to rush across the bridge, toss a few grenades, and get a gang up to overwelm the other side. We really will not see how it can be played out till i do a public release and some server will start hosting it. We need to get some full games together and see how it plays. Which is main reason I will have the first public release still a BETA. Plus. final might be held to the expansion packs release. The exp pac might give the map more weapon and playing capability. We will just have to see. Now as for the doors on the side. well.. The Single Player version continues from that point. You crose the bridge.. do couple objectives. then go threw those doors to complete final mission.. I would also like to see more OBJ map have axis completing the objective. The obj I have planed out.. well.. allies wouldnt look right defending a base that has german bunkers. second.. the obj that needs to be complete fits a allied type of attack. I think everyone will enjoy it. thunder and rain sounds are in the map. If you are not hearing it, well.. the very first map i released to the people who signed up and recieved a private link. The ubersound file was incorrect. The download on my website has the fix. If you have the version from my site, then its an ubersound issue. Mostlikly a conflict from another custom map you have installed. But the rain and thunder sounds are there. i totally agree with the look of each sides island. Im going over diferant designs. The only thing holding me back is the depth of the bridge. worst come to worst. the bridge will need to be redesigned and lowered. I hope i dont have to go that direction. I going to look into adding a really thick fog so the structure of the bridge will disapair in the heavy fog. well let me know who you feel about that idea. I can hear the thunder and rain. I would like to see fog on there to keep it at the thunder map theme like. As for anything else im not sure. All out of ideas

we have placed this map on teh 84thusmc sniper only server. it is running right now (8:00PM CST 10-9-2002) Personally i think it is a great map, as do some of my fellow clan members. I am not sure how long the map will be on the server, so get to it while you can, if i c that there is somebody in there, i will join in.

Its a great map, here is my 2 cents;
1. With all the rain and thunder the sky should reflect that more. 2. A heavier fog would be great. 3. Like I said b4, in FFA, have the guys spawn on the other side of the bridge too, the whole map is nice and its a shame that noone gets to see the other side. There should be no more fog...the map Is good because of the less fog..there is already rain...In anycase this map does cater to snipers thats the only problem i see with it..thunder was great due to the fact you can have a mix but eye of the needle...man first thing that comes to mine is SNIPERS which is not necessarly a bad thing but and all out sniper map cant be to fun..either way ive been testing it out with my crew the past week and its an overall great map and maintains great fps..we shall wait and see what the final brings us.

I like the map alot and would love to put it on my server but it won't happen in it's current state. I have tried every bridge map out there in an effort to get one good one with no success. The main problem with bridge maps is sniping and to combat that you HAVE to have multiple ways to cross. You are close but a few additions would make this a great map. First you need to be able to crawl all the way across the bridge undetected from the other side so making the bridge walls high enough (they may already be now), and placing the catwalk on BOTH sides as well as not stopping the catwalk in the middle would be a big plus. Also I would like to see a catwalk below the bridge like in Arnhem. This would allow people to get across undetected by snipers and would be a HUGE help. As it is 2 people can absolutely clean house on this map and hold the bridge easily until ammo runs out.
