Yeah my friend's grandpa is alive today. Also I remembered my great uncle fought in WWII, but I'm not sure if he fought on D-Day. He was a pilot I believe.

My grandfather is still alive. But I can't even imagine how nasty it was, him being a medic and all. He had to help people with limbs blown off, bullet holes, everything.

Maverick 08-12-2001 03:06 AM

medics are cool... http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/smile.gif

Are your refering to the P-47 "Thunderbolt" (which is a fighter), or the B-17 "Flying Fortress" (which is a bomber)? You seem to have combined the names.

Neo8234 08-12-2001 03:19 AM

I'm guessing he meant the P-47 Thunderbolt...

Hells-Angel 08-12-2001 03:33 AM

My Grandfather fought there as a Medic.

My great-grandad was at D-Day but I'm not sure where, all I know is that he was in a landing craft and everyone aboard it apart from him was killed when a shell hit it. He said most of them were decapitated, and it was the most horrific thing he'd ever seen.

Did all of these relitives live? I mean my friends grampa was killed storming the beach. never asked about the details, but my grampa stormed some of those Pacific beaches, you know the ones on those pretty islands. He never saw much action though. Good for him.
