The best PC?
This might be a dumb post but i just wanna see what the general population thinks... I just purchased an alienware pc and i'm pretty excited to get it!!! eatthis:
What is everyones opinion on the best gaming PC out there? |
Personally, I think Alienware pc's are very overpriced, although they are very good. I think the best gaming machine is one you build yourself. But some people don't know how, or where to start or just aren't interested in building their own box. Have fun with your new machine though, It should rock especially with that radion 9700. Oh that radion 9700....well, i did have the best graphics card money could buy before it came out -lol-
|
well if i wanted to pay the extra 1000$$bI would have got the 9700... oOo:
but im stuck with a g-4 ti!!! yea u right about the price though..ouch!!!! guess i wont be buying my new porshe! lol!! |
This may not help much but.. to the man who just blew money on the Alienware.
HAHAHHHAAAAAAHAHA!!! lol |
The alienwares are about as nice as it gets, you just have to pay full retail. I hate paying retail. I just built a very nice new box (my first) with the only weak link being the video card, and I am working on that.

Ha. I have a Vic20 somewhere. With, optional tape drive. |
Vic20? whats that mate? never heard of them.
|
Dude its a Dell!!!!!! ( I hate that guy) sorry I know someone was gonna say it!!! hehehe
mb |
That price is not that bad. He does have 2 22" flat panel displays.
Oh I just replaced my Ti4600 with a 9700 pro. Don't worry your Ti4600 is just as good. If I had to buy a PC alienvwares would be my number one choice. But I build my own. Good luck with your new box. They make one hell of a product. |

It was the predecessor of the commador 64. |
Thanks for the posts guys...If i knew how to build my own PC and had the time to do it i probably would! but i thought this was a good alternative...The price is not bad either 1700$
|
The "dude its a dell" thing was wrong! Its "Dude, yur gettin a Dell".....just thought id clear that up. [/quote]

I'm gettin ready to get a new PC and I'd love to build my own but I just know I'd screw it up. <sigh> Oh yeah, I could learn how to do it, I've done basic stuff like replacing HD's and adding RAM and PCI cards , etc. but between my job and playing MOH who's got the time to learn let alone do the job. biggrin: I was looking at the Alienware's at Comp USA a few weeks ago and they are really nice machines but a bit more than I want to spend , I'll probably end up with another Gateway or maybe a Dell this time , at least they let you customize them to a certain degree. I don't need to get a monitor right away as the 19" CRT I'm using still works fine. There are a couple of guys who own a computer shop down the road, they've been there for several years so they must be doing something right , a friend of mine had them build a couple of PC's and he was happy with them. Maybe I'll give them some spec's and see what they can do for me.

The guy down the street might give you a really good price. but remember he will use OEM parts. Try and get the Motherboard, CPU and video card as retail items.
don't get anything , dell, gateway or the guy down the street with built on motherboard components ( sound, video ) while there ok I would advise against it. Good Luck |
Oh yeah , I would specify a GF ti 4600 128 ram in a AGC slot and a SB sound card in a PCI slot. You can also get that from Gateway and Dell although the best vid card Dell has at the moment is an ATI 9700 and I'd like to stick to Nivadia (whatever biggrin: ) which Gateway has and they do put them in a AGC slot. I think the guys down the road will do whatever you want them too but I don't know if it will be any cheaper than the others. Thing is , they will only use Intel processors and I've been using AMD's without any trouble but maybe it's time to try a P4. Yeah, I would never buy integrated vid and sound, okay for some things but not high end games.
Thanks for the heads up Rude , I'll be sure the PC will be suitable for just about any game that comes out, in the near future anyways. biggrin: |
