Such a thing as an m-4 for lefties?

Im ambidextrous in most things but when it comes to firing rifles im left handed, though im right handed with pistols. eek:

The shell ejection port on the m4 is on the right hand side, is there an m4 with the port on the left hand side? Preferably so i dont get hot shells in the beak. ed:

erm, I wouldn't think so to be honest. Not meaning to be rude but, would it not be easier to try and learn to be right handed with a rifle?
And where do you shoot anyway (I'm asuming you do)?

Ive never actually fired a real rifle. But from playing paintball thats the way i am, im left handed with rifles and right handed with pistols.

Not easy switching back either, i naturally sight with my left eye so its easier being left handed than struggling to get into a proper position in a right handed grip.

There are shooting clubs around but none are reall nearbye. most being maybe 50 miles away or so and theres no friggin way im going that far to fire off a few rounds on a .22 or something rifle.

Thats why id like to visit america sometime and possibly emigrate there, any oOo: can own a gun. A semi m4 with a scope would be very nice :)

agreed, perhaps in my year out between college and uni I'll stay there and just shoot constantly, after all, even if I do join the army, the SA80's a piece of shit

I might actually take up airsoft soon, even though the nearest centre is miles away from me. I've already got most of the kit I need - uniform, carrying gear (I'll be getting a new assault vest soon); and I know how to shoot; all I need is a decent rifle and handgun.

I'd like an M4 or an XM177E2 and I'd probably invest in a scope or an aimpoint. I'd also like one with recoil, so I'd have to get gas probably. I'm not sure if you can get electric with recoil. I'd also like one which is made out of the same proportions of metal and plastic as the real thing, or very close. It just doesn't feel right having a light, plastic rifle in your hand.

Anyone do airsofting?

Airsofting with an m4 would be weird, damn things rattle like hell when you're moving along so any illusion of it being a real m4 won;t last very long :(

yes, they're both bull-pup, but the SA-80 is shit, we should just dump it and get the M16

No... all M-16, M-4's are righty only. The protrustion called the "brass defelctor" is supposed to keep brass from ejecting into the face of a left handed user. Not always successful, most people learn how to fire right handed.

During our NBC ( Nuclear, biological, chemical) warfare training one of the task was to fire the M-16a2 with Pro-mask on (protective mask, aka "gas mask". The drill sergeants did not allow left handed firers to switch the side of the filter canister from left to right. Therefore the weapon could only be fired from the right, while wearing the mask.

It is something lefty's are semi forced to learn.

Sidenote: Watch Black Hawk Down. When the second black hawk goes down and the ranger climbs out and opens fire he switches from right to left, then back to right freely.

In real life more than likly he would have started out as a left handed shooter who learned right, and can switch depending on the angle of the shot. It is a great advantage since righty's normally dont aquire this skill.

I want an M4 with the M203 Airsoft gun. lol ima try to order one from my parents for christmas biggrin:

Bartlett 10-21-2002 12:25 PM

my parents won't allow me to buy an airsoft weapon, because they feel I'm too immature to own something which could harm my brother or sister. They forget that I have fired real rifles with live rounds in the vicinity of other people.

You mean the first crash site and the Delta that climbs out (I know they probably do this at both crash sites)? biggrin:
Here's some pics to back up that point. Delta using right:

Delta using left:

Also, I use left-handed models on CS and when using M4 I haven't been hit in the face by brass yet biggrin:
