How Many Of You Use Custom Scopes?

Hey I was just wondering how many people actually use the custom scopes? If you do use the custom scopes post up SS's here so we can all check em out! cool:

How exactly does that work?

I've been trying to make some scopes of my own (I'm a noob at this) and I've found out that I have to use zoomoverlay.tga for the allied one and kartop.tga and karbottom.tga for axis, but whenever I edit the axis one, the result is a whiteish scope (which is not very pretty).
So what I really want is to use my allied one for both sides, but how do I do that?

scopes

Hi,

I use the fuxenzoom scope too :) It is simple and very accurate. I also use a red laserdot on all the other guns, just to aim more accurate. And if you want to know how to mod a scope...just check out some other posts. I saw a post of a guy, which gave the link to his personal zoom-mod-site on the internet. Just search the forum....

Greetz,

Hey I'm not sure how to mod the scopes cuz I suck at that stuff, but here's the one's that I'm using right now.

I am by no means a modder or skinner, in fact i don't know the first thing about how to make them...here's what i did...but i'd imagine this would work for other scopes too...really simple. I just looked at another axis scope to see what tga's i needed...opened the necessary allied tga's in photoshop and fliped and rotated them so they were facing the same way as the axis ones..renamed them to kartop and bottom and presto..i had a working fuxenzoom allied scope for my axis sniper.. :)

-MoB-Luigi good call on the Axis scope. I've used that one for a VERY long time. I love it.

the image and the alpha channel are getting merged when you save. open the image back up and flood fill it black and the white will be gone.

Thats the sickest scope ive seen!!!

nice work slaughter! I gotta get Hitman cool:

Akuma 10-31-2002 07:16 PM

I use the same ones as Luigi

Meddler 10-31-2002 09:23 PM

I use a custom scope, Minefield's 1.37 full screen, he sent it to me himself...:) I feel special cool:

Gauge.pZ 10-31-2002 10:16 PM

I find the full screen scopes to be weak and kind of a cheat. Since a scope when you look into it is circular not a square.

Redeye 11-01-2002 02:59 PM

cheat? full screen dont really offer much of a bonus unless your snipe camping like a li'l bitch. if your constantly moving from spot to spot after killing one or two people you dont need widepan scope.

anyway cant be bothered to post screenies but i use animated scopes, groovy little inward pointing arrows at the target area.

SwampThing7 11-01-2002 04:15 PM

Hey I use some custom I downloaded here @ aa.com.
Pretty sweet.

Being stupid though I don't know how to attach screenshots. I'll email 'um to any who want them though. PM me for my address

Hobbs 11-01-2002 06:37 PM

How did you figure out how to do that RedEye???

Redeye 11-02-2002 08:44 AM

basically partly thanks to you doing that animated avatar thing, i downloaded it and found out abou the AnimMap script. after some experimenting i just adapted it, made 4 seperate tga's with the arrow's moving in each frame. because the tgas are clamped you need to clamp them individually so your shader looks like this:

textures/hud/zoomoverlay
{
surfaceparm nolightmap
nomipmaps
nopicmip
{
clampmap textures/hud/zoomoverlay.tga
clampmap textures/hud/zoomoverlay2.tga
clampmap textures/hud/zoomoverlay3.tga
clampmap textures/hud/zoomoverlay4.tga

animmap 5 textures/hud/zoomoverlay.tga textures/hud/zoomoverlay2.tga textures/hud/zoomoverlay3.tga textures/hud/zoomoverlay4.tga
blendFunc blend
}
}

Snipa 11-02-2002 11:32 AM

i switch back and forth between custom and default. I don't know y though i just like all the realistic scopes.

Hobbs 11-02-2002 12:16 PM

I was kidding Red! I know how you did it oOo: but why did you clamp the tga's?

Redeye 11-02-2002 02:28 PM

if you dont clamp the tga's when the game mirrors it all up the edges of the tga's don't meet properly and you get gaps between each tga, looks horrible. arg i suck at the animation thing anyway, there's a bit of flashing where i screwed up the some of the alpha's,

11-02-2002 02:33 PM

my faveriot scopes are the Laser scopes

Hobbs 11-02-2002 07:47 PM

Cool... thanks 4 the tip... i hate the masks man!! cry: try doing 64 of them..thats how many in my mod!! oOo: argh...
