Another possible sub spawn/hack fix

I'm testing another fix for the problem of people spawning stuff in the game to crash the server.
If someone would like to test my fix please leave me either a PM or email.
You will have to already know how this is done, because I can't tell anyone how to do it.

My understanding is there are 2 possible ways to do it.
I'm pretty sure I've blocked one way.
I need someone who knows how to do it both ways to test my fix.

I'm mainly looking for someone to try and crash my test server.
Test server IP 68.102.70.74

Thanks

Druid

ok i went on and tried to crash it and it never crashed looks like your fix maybe the missing link i am looking for. angel:

I will be testing the fix for 1 more day to check for any unseen problems my changes may cause. If all goes well, people crashing servers will be a thing of the past.

Right now I'm looking for anyone who know how to use the drop-menu to try and crash it. I only know how people are doing it in the console.

I've moved the fix over to my clan server for more testing.

I was going thru MOHAA withdraw, from not being able to play as I used my computer for testing.

been there, nobody around, so I didn't try to crash it without any consent. However, if you want to do a test on that server or a different one, let me know.

Regards

If you or anyone wants to help test the fix.
Please join the game and try to crash the server.
Even if there is no one there.
Please try to crash it anyway.

I'm sure the console way is blocked. Now I'm looking for anyone who can try and crash it by using the drop-down menu.
Here is an example of what I'm talking about.

You can see the menu at the top of the picture.
If you know how access the menu. Please join the server at
IP 63.99.213.111
and try and spawn something by using the menu.

Hello!!

Good news maybe...

I entered the server and tried to crash it. A thing to note: I haven't been able yet to spawn any model on any server; however, while trying to do so a found a procedure involving that menu and the spawning of objects which crashed my personal server (windows) everytime I tried it.

Now I've tried it on your server and nothing seems to happen. Assuming the trucks and tanks have always been there (Remagen), I think you're on the right way...

I can try your fix on my server and see what happens this time if you wish.

Cheers!

Druid 10-31-2002 12:47 PM

LOL..
Yep the tanks are suppose to be there...
I added them to try and limit the spawn killing on Remagen..

You bring up a good point.
I don't think this will work for the linux verson of MOHAA.
I'm going to talk to someone who know more about linux.
Check back in a day or two and we should have something for the linux people also.

Gauge.pZ 10-31-2002 10:25 PM

Bah darn thing didn't like download accelerator thats why

yochoylamuete 11-01-2002 04:25 AM

Druid, a little late, but excellent work man. People like you make the AA community better everyday. biggrin:

PS: DogMeat knows quite a bit about Linux, if you need a Linux reference.

KeyserSoze_OPS 11-01-2002 12:23 PM

Druid,
Thank you for the work you put in here. It seems the only support for this game is from other gamers and we thank you for the time and effort put into this. Maybe now I can get some playing time in!

IceVirus 11-01-2002 06:34 PM

Druid,
