*thinking / talking to himself*

I look around at these bushes... and man, enemy soldiers could come out
and shoot at us, killing most of the people in the squad out of surprise. Oh
I don't want it to happen, I love these fellas, I would die for them. Blah blah
blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah
blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah ......

You get the point.

apperently you havent heard of storyline and plot

Mr.X 11-03-2002 12:32 AM

...or read the book, which is excellent.

SoLiDUS 11-03-2002 12:43 AM

Book = NOT MOVIE.

Movie = NOT BOOK.

Hope this helps make the difference clearer.

Thanks for that...it's just, every so often, a movie based on a book will share
a lot of storyline and dialogue with that book!...bizarre, I know... oOo:

[quote="CSF_Jaizen":8b56b]apperently you havent heard of storyline and plot[/quote:8b56b]

yes, but this movie is just boring, goes on and on.

Tripper 11-03-2002 01:33 AM

I would say it was a festival/war film....It is more of a character analysis piece than an action film depicting the physical horrors of war, like SPR. I believe the makers were trying to depict the mental impact of soldiers at war, in TRL.

Mr.X 11-03-2002 01:53 AM

...yeah, it highlighted that for many soldiers it was like 95% anxiety-loaded boredom,
and 5% life or death, state-sanctioned mayhem...
I think it's a lot like BoB, where not every episode is full on battle but more about individuals and military structure...
sure, the movie could have done without the "...why's a flower, why's a tree..." bits....whatever. happy:

Innoxx 11-03-2002 02:08 AM

Gotta love the soundtrack though, and travolta is the gerneral, and that's just cool.

Look, it sucked balls and you know diss, man eek:

:)

ninty 11-03-2002 12:30 PM

I didn't even watch it. I went out last night.

Milla 11-03-2002 07:50 PM

The thin red line is perhaps the worst WW2 movie ever made, the best part is when they attack that bunker, all those flashbacks of that girl are so gay. I wanted to get my money back after we bought it on pay per view hake: this is nothing like BoB, BoB was actually the very best mini/ ww2 show/ movie ever aside from SPR which is a tie

Tripper 11-03-2002 09:37 PM

Well I REALLY like the shaky cam filming style of BoB & SPR....Its brilliant, it really adds to the turbulence of the film...The Bridge At Remagen used that technique in some places also, it made it seem quite modern.

SW-14 11-03-2002 09:46 PM

The movie sucked.

Pyro 11-03-2002 11:11 PM

I think BoB rox0r SPR

TRL sucks though.

Tripper 11-04-2002 01:42 AM

Ya TRL did suck. As a war movie....I still think the makers accomplished what they set out to do...Even if it is boring as shit.

Bazooka_Joe 11-04-2002 10:59 AM

What was the Thin Red Line about again, and whos in it?

11-04-2002 03:05 PM

I like Thin Red Line a tad better than Saving Private Ryan.

Zoner 11-04-2002 03:25 PM

Thin Red Line takes place during the U.S. landing at Guadalcanal.

According to the website, "THE THIN RED LINE tells the story of a group of men, an Army Rifle company called C-for-Charlie, who change, suffer and ultimately make essential discoveries about themselves during the fierce World War II battle of Guadalcanal. "

It stars Sean Penn, Jim Caviezel, Ben Chaplin, George Clooney, John Cusack, Woody Harrelson, Elias Koteas and Nick Nolte.

Oh, did I mention that it sucked?

BOOK = Very Quiet!!!
MOVIE = Bang, Bang, Boom, Uh you got me! Cue drama music!

bigzooka: fire1: M16: fire2: zooka: swordfight:

BTW SPR blows TRL awaaaaaaayyyy! BoB blows them both away!!!

Captain Bunny 11-04-2002 06:10 PM

Keeping in mind that Apocalypse Now didnt have that much action in it when you think about it, and towards the end, there was practically no talking for almost an hour, yet most people say apocalypse now is an excellent film.
it is indeed, and so is the thin red line IMO.
