I love shooting

Me and a few buds went to the range this weekend. I had a blast. We hd more damn shooting toys than you could shake a stick at. I needed to site in my rifle for hunting season, so I had my .270 and my buddy had his as well. We also had several pistol (.22 with red dot, .357 revolver, .40 semiauto). We had a supressed 10/22 that was deadon and dead quiet. We also had a very nice AK47, rusian made, sytheticstock that was dead on at 120 yrds with iron sites. We were picking off clay pidgeons that we set up on the backstop with relative ease. It made a very satisfying sound. We also had a full auto (class3) AC5.53 (I think thats what it was, maybe a AC5.57, please excuse my ignorance). Very cool. Could be set to single shot, 3 round burst or full auto. The ROF was kind of low, and it bucked (climbed) like crazy compared to some smgs I have shot but it was still very fun.

Anyway, I just love shooting and thought I would share.

MPowell1944 11-04-2002 10:38 AM

aaahhhhhhhh guns! Isnt it fun to spend the day shooting up a hillside! Love doing it. Last time out we must have spent about 2000 rounds.Your buddy must have a class 3 license or you guys are flirting with the ATF. Sounds like a good day, amazing how you had fun, it was SAFE and no crimes were commited with the guns. The second amendment is awesome!

When we did weapons qualification about 2 weeks ago, we finished up at the range, and a few guys had their POV's (personally owned vechiles) with them, with a bunch of weapons in the trunk. Sawed-off's, .38 specials, Colt .45, Thompson, lots of fun stuff. You should of seen the size of some of the holes from the shotty, not the buckshot, but the one that just shoots the big-ass round. Forgot what the round is called, though.

Joe, its called a slug and, yes, those things will leave a mark.

Another interesting tidbit I picked up the other day.....

64,999,987 firearms owners killed NO ONE yesterday!!!!

Bazooka_Joe 11-04-2002 11:18 AM

Umm. . .no one died yesterday from a registered weapon owner? Now, how many unregistered Hamas & Taliban killed people yesterday?
Umm. . .no one died yesterday from a registered weapon owner? Now, how many unregistered Hamas & Taliban killed people yesterday?[/quote:bfdd5]

Easy killer. It doesnt say registered anywhere and nowhere does it say that it accounts for all weapons. Quit reading more into it that it says.

Nice pic stank.

Bazooka_Joe 11-04-2002 12:17 PM

How many were killed by suicide bombers?

pest 11-04-2002 12:43 PM
How many were killed by suicide bombers?[/quote:8e851]

Do you have to register for that?

Bazooka_Joe 11-04-2002 01:06 PM

Yes, but unfortuneatly, registration dosen't last long.

General Tso 11-04-2002 05:21 PM

Good times...

I had some fun with a semi auto shotgun a few weeks ago -- a Spaz 9? The paper target lost badly. angel:

Also, how difficult is it to purchase .30 cal ammo? A friend recently bought an M1 and a Springfield '03 (and is licensed/qualified) but doesn't know how hard it would be to get ammo...30.06 shells are a little too big... Sorry if it's a little off topic!

Rommel*>RRS 11-07-2002 11:53 PM

30 cal ammo

30 cal ammo is fairly easy 2 get i own 4 m-1's myself and 2 '02 springfields... u can order of the internet but i normally go 2 dunn's or any other place that carries ammunation for firearms.. i hope this helps u out in ur quest 2 find ammo for those fine pieces of weaponry..

Fucking christ full auto?
I get to go to the range next weekend with my newly aqquired kar98k (don't you love grandpas?), this should be fun.

pest 11-08-2002 10:16 AM

The full auto is cool. I am just glad it is my buddy that has the class 3 permit. I have no desire to sign away my search and seizures rights just to own a full auto, but my buddy doesnt mind, so its all good for me.

SW-14 11-08-2002 01:21 PM

I'm going to be going to the range for the first time this weekend, along with my dad to shoot clay pidgeons with a shotgun. Any tips?

Innoxx 11-08-2002 01:23 PM

Remember, when holding i shotty take a forward stance (read: boxer stance) I learned this the hard way and fell flat on my ass. I enjoy shooting shotties, they are so fun.

Keep your eyes on the target, follow through after the shot you will hit many more this way.SAFETY-SAFETY-SAFETY Be careful guns can be great fun but you MUST do it safely. Have fun!!!
mb
PS did I mention SAFETY?

SW-14 11-08-2002 02:48 PM

So by "follow through" you mean holding still for a sec after I've fired?

Oldguy 11-08-2002 08:22 PM

Keep the butt of the stock tight against your shoulder or your shoulder is going to be sore for a few days. biggrin:

Tripper 11-08-2002 08:32 PM

You'll shoot your eye out, kid!

Innoxx 11-08-2002 08:33 PM

A shotty will get rid of more than an eye.

Tripper 11-08-2002 08:36 PM

You'll deplete your existence, kid.

makaveli1604 11-09-2002 04:32 AM

that was sum nice reading guys har har har u hillbillies just slay me biggrin: j/king guys all i have fired is a spud gun!!!!!!!!!!!! lmao fire1:

Sgt>Stackem 11-09-2002 07:10 AM

spud guns are a blast!!! By following through I mean after you SQUEEZE the trigger you keep the gun moving as if you are still tracking the target. This will prevent a "jerk" that will make you miss the target.
mb

Sindonesia 11-09-2002 07:32 AM

Remember when shooting a shot gun you want to have the butt of the gun about two or three inches away from you shoulder. biggrin:

Good times! Every Thanksgiving we take the kids to my wife's grandfather's hunting camp. We have so much fun shooting (double barrel .410, replica 1851 Navy Colt, .22 Winchester) that my wife has to make sure that we don't shoot up all of the paper plates before mealtime! (it's happened evil: ) My kids love always have a ball (two girls - 16 and 12).

MrLevinstein 11-09-2002 10:47 PM

i shot a over under last year for the first time. i was used to the tiny kick of a .22 or .22 hornet (thoose are a blast). and i pull the trigger and the rath of god comes down on my shoulder. they have sooo much kick for a first timer.

SW-14 11-10-2002 12:44 AM

Damn I sucked at shooting. I didn't hit a single clay pidgeon in about 20 shots.

Rayn 11-10-2002 02:31 PM

Im good. With a 22, at about 35 yards, in the rain, at a target this big

because I'm in the cadets, I get to fire 5.56s (SA-80, L98, LSW), and if I go on a special weapons course in the summer, I'll be able to fire loads, like Steyr AUG, G36, M16, GPMG. But unfortunately we don't fire live rounds often.
