THE GEWEHRGRANATE - MY GOD I LOVE IT!
You know what, this weapon has TOTALLY made this game for me. Whether its lobbing nades at allies out of your line of sight, or popping them with a bullet in the head, this weapon is just outstanding. I dont mind losing the PANZER if this is what we get in return.
Of course, there are going to be complainers. Someone wanted to kick me for using it, and I was called of course a "nade-whore", 'n00b", etc. etc. And that's fine, just makes me laugh even more. But lets get real here folks, this thing is just a mauser, with the ability to shot nades a LITTLE farther than you can throw them, with detenation on impact. THATS IT! If you pulled the pin on your nade and lobbed it at the right time, it'd do the same. And there are ONLY 5 nades on it anyway. The thing that balances this weapon in my opinion is its splash damage. You WILL be killed if you are rushing with this weapon and have the NADES already attached. No if ands or buts about it. I even tried firing a nade up into a room above my head, and STILL got killed. So, this is still a long range weapon, but you are going to see ALOT of "FUCkUP TRIPPED ON HIS OWN GRENADE"s. Either way, I now love rifles (couldnt stand them in AA). GOD BLESS YOU EA!!!! |
Yeah, I see your point. But I was just in a game where all the axis were either using that or rockets. Gets kinda anoying when you go out in the open to run for an objective and you get pelted with 10 of these things. I don't really mind nades but the fact that it explodes on impact is shitty for me.
I guess its ok to use it. What I truly hate is the kamakizi guys who run up to you and shoot you with it from 2 feet away and blow themselves up too. These guys have no skill whatsoever. So I gues i'm one of those complainers. I don't think this weapon will die off like the rockets because it has the rifle with it. Well at least most of those who use it won't beable to hit me with the rifle when they run out of grenades. |

It takes no skill what so ever? Can you drop one in a window from 200 ft.?
Most I see can't even figure out how to shoot one across the sub bay. They try to use it like a bazooka. In the hands of someone who can use it, this weapon is awesome. It has a greater range than the mortars, and if you know how to use it, it's an unpleasant suprise for most. One thing it isn't is a close quarter weapon. One thing I would want for it would be the ability to unload the cup. Most run around with it loaded, I wait for a target or target area, but even then, one gets suprised sometimes. And when that happens, I do wish I could drop that grenade out. It's great, if your not a tard. Quit yer whining. |
someone should just make a mod to be able to 1: unload it and 2: have a minimum range. not exactly realistic with the range but neither is blowing yourself up

I think it IS a very dangerous weapon in the hands of someone who doesn't know how to use it, but those that do, that can lob it over corners and into nooks and crannies should be applauded. The great thing is I'm finding out what a useful weapon the rifle is once you have lost your nades. And YES there REALLY needs to be an option to take off the nade. Many a time I have needed the RILFE and have to pop one off ( ed: ), to get back to my rifle. |
they need to:
A. give the allies a garand grenade B. limit the number of these weapons for both teams because, while like people said it is a good tactical weapon to help your friends by indirect fire (what the real thing was designed for), there are too many n00bs running around suiciding with the things. Again, if EA was smart they would do a "forced squad" system like America's Army, where the more people you have the more heavy weapons you are allowed. |
That would be nice. I figured out a theory on how to do it, but nobody would give me an opinion on if it would work or not.

the range on this thing is well beyond twice the range of any grenade toss. you can fire them well past max view distance on malta. you also get 5 nades when other kits get 1 or 2.
it lends itself to lame play but what can you expect ? ellied forces got how many new weapons ? like +10 and this is all the axis got. cant blame anyone for using it |
It gets 5 nades because it has no main nades.
And I have YET to be able to fire past view-distance. |

There's gonna be alot of people bitchin about this weapon when it comes out in the retail version. But you know what? This makes up for the massive damage the shotty does. And besides, Germans have no nades when they use this weapon, either.

I for one hate the weapon. I just played my first game of SH on a FFA server, and EVERYONE was using it. Guess what? I had too as well, otherwise I would die everytime. This thing has a HUGE kill zone. When you need to hit them with 3-5 bullets and they need to place the nade within 20 feet of you.......

im not a big fan of it either, i no it a nade launche but it can b realy anoying when u kill like 5 guys coming trough a door and u go over to the door to canny on ur merry way and u see some bitch on the other side and u get the nade right in the face but i no its part of the game so ill just have to live with it cry: at least the axis dont have the shot gun biggrin:

I may be misinformed but I remember reading that the gewehrgranate will not be in the retail version of the expansion pack. Just a treat for the demo. I may be wrong, but I am pretty sure that I read this from EA somewhere.
And to add my two cents, I like this weapon also, it can be very effective, and seeing that I use rifles mostly anyways, it is a nice addition. Plus it is the only new axis weapon, so its fun. |

On the final version of Spearhead you can mod the ammo or even the existence of every weapon on your server. I think I will limit the number of nades to 2, which I found more realistic and fair than having 5 nades per player (as the allies don't have a similar weapon).
Having to stand in order to fire it would be a great improvement, also. Wonder if such modification will be possible on the whole game. Regards |
The Axis have got one other new weapon, the G43 sniper rifle. Which is semi-auto and has a 10 round mag.
I personally only have one problem with the 'nade launcher, and that is the close range kill me, kill themselves thing. It's a cheap kill, but at least they don't get a credit for it. I have played on a few servers running the demo, and have seen it used very well. When it is it's awesome. But I've also played on some where 90% of the Axis team had one, and a lot of them were suicide jockeys. But I also heard that it wasn't going to be in the full release version of Spearhead, and if that's the case that makes this thread pointless ... lol. |

i read in the latest gamespot review that the gewehregranate will prob. be included in the retail version via a patch. but since mohaa was released on jan 22, 2002 and we have only seen two patches, what are the odds they will make one to include them. personally i hope they dont but thats just my opinion. im still trying to get used to the gameplay on spearhead but i cant base all my opinions on a beta demo. that review also said that malta might be patched as well to be included into the retail version.
