MOH:SPEARHEAD BUGS & DRAWBACKS!!! Corporal's Take.
 
Well I've spent alot of hours over the past two days playing the new SPEARHEAD, and I just wanted to give ALLIEDASSAULT.COM my take on what I have concluded...

First of all...

BUGS BUGS BUGS!!!!! One of the most fustrating things I've encountered with MOHSH (Medal of Honor Spearhead), Is the the nasty little glitches.. and here I will catalog what I've found;

~FROZEN SERVERS~ Well by now everyone has encountered this one and know what it is.. so I'll just leave it at that... definately better be fixed by showtime!

~SILENT RIFLES~ The new Russian and British Rifle sound effects have a tendency to only work half the time... whats with this??

~UNDER THE MAP IS BACK!~ While playing the Sub-Base map, I ACCIDENTLY fell under the map while spawning... hmmm I dunno how but I did.. But no biggie here.. couldn't do much.. so not to worry...

~PLAYER MODELS MOVE TOO FAST~ First thing I noticed when I went into combat was the players were moving waaaaay too fast!!! to the point where it was impossible to use a rifle! And I'm pretty good with a rifle..

~FROZEN PLAYER MODELS~ I noticed a lack of animation in the player models at times... they would like freeze in place while running for about a second before moving again.. and sometimes player models going up stairs seem to melt into them.. possibly this is related to the speed issue above???

~GAME HANGS BETWEEN MAP LOADS SOMETIMES~ I've encountered this problem about 3 times today while playing...

~NEW TAUNTS NOT IMPRESSIVE~ heh heh okay... just my own personal rant here...

Well thats how the bug report stands so far... Hope these issues will be addressed soon! On the plus side I did like a few things about the new MOHSH, The fact you can't lean and run is nice.. I hate those gay players who Bind Strafing keys to the leaning keys... And it might be my imagination but the game seems to run alot smoother with players pinging up to 250 now.. I noticed no reduction in performance. And finally I can play Russian soldiers, and British Commandos! Love it!!

ONE FINAL NOTE: I'd love to find the programmer at EA who added the Axis Rifle Grenade... So I can rip out his fingernails!!!!! Good Lord I can already see games degenerating into a Chaotic Newbie Circus! Ack!!!

#1 shut the fuck up! the game isnt even out, its a demo.

#2 the server bugs are server side, easily worked out.

#3the reason the models are fast if you cared to look under create server is fast run option server side.

#4 the grenade weapon for the germans is actually a real weapon and does take skill to use effectively, just like homo's bitch about rocket launchers shotties you bitch about this.

If ya dont like it dont play it.

a demo based off the game that has already gone gold, so chances are the majority of these issues will be present in the full version. i don't recall him saying he doesn't like it, only he was unhappy with a few things. when's the last time you were 100% happy with a game?

I've only experienced the frozen spawn bug, which has totally snuffed out any Spearhead gaming for me, so I can't comment on gameplay.

I ran around by myself in a game I made on my own machine and I was impressed by the new weapons. The usable mortar in Malta was hella kewl! Might be as used as the MG-42 in Stalingrad, but that's besides the point...

I hope they iron out that fatal spawn freeze glitch before release.

the mortar needs more range, with a way to tell the range you're aiming at. would be pretty cool in open maps like battlefield with your buddys calling out the range of the target

how would that help?
when I played battlefield the only time I got an arty request was when some joker called it into our own camp!!!

you must play with shit players. Most games I am in im either in an arty getting scout calls or going out and calling arty in and usually it works.

I agree. I'm not sure of the authenticity of the range. It does seem it could go farther than it does. I am sure the crosshair is useless. It's more of a trial and error weapon.

I want an artillery call. Like a buddy uses binos, and you can drop a mortar on where they are. But then again, its only a 60MM round, can only go about 300 yards or so. That would be about where the gate is for the bridge in Malta, from the German spawn point mortar tube.

and in bf1942 on the occasion a few of the people i uploaded it to would work with me to get an accurate artillery strike. it would be something to encourate teamwork in clan matches or among friends, i haven't seen teamwork amongst strangers since my anarchy online days, and that was only because they wanted easy xp.

teamplay... id love to see more of it. its few and far between, and i think artillery strikes with the aid of range-calls and the like would be a move in the right direction.

i didnt no u could call in artillery strikes is this only for the full or the demo.

and do u guys no that the malta map wont be in the final release same goes for the other map what ever it called.

I don't see why Air-Strikes or Artillery could not be modded into MOH. Airstrikes being easiest.. It involves use of the binoculars.. If right-click while peering through them you will note a radio static sound.. which in some scenarios as you remember called in a strike...

do you really want air strikes in this game?
think about it, either they have to limit it to one strike per map (in which case some n00b will waste it on an open area with no enemies)
or they give you as many airstrikes as you want, in this case no one will venture outside and it'll be bunker camping.

Its a demo moron not the real game. The full version has everything worked out. And that greande rifle isnt in the full version so you can quit your belly aching now.

I think that most of the server problems that everyone is encountering is because most of the servers are running on somebody's home box and that ain't gonna hack it for this game. We're gonna need it running on dedicated game servers same as MOHAA.

Yeah well I have to agree on the stupid frozen servers. They suck. However, I can honestly say that I've onlyl come across this problem when using the in game server list. All the servers that are listed on Gamespy do NOT seem to have a problem as far as I know of. Maybe there's something to that? And the riffle sounds are ok, I can live with that. But I was so happy for all the new weapons, not to mention the way people can't fire rockets unless stationary. I thought that was pretty cool. I still wish they kept the mauser w/ scope though. I can not wait to get the actual game. Everything I've seen so far is awesome. biggrin:
