Hardest gun to shoot?
Just wondering, I went and shot a shotgun last Saturday, and I missed those damn clay pidgeons everytime. Not to mention that my right shoulder is still a little sore... biggrin: Anyways, do rifles and other guns kick as much as shotguns?

A .308, or a lee enfield jungle carbine.
|
Remington 700 .308 sniper rifle (from my experiences)
|
I want to try one of those 4 gauge "Elephant Guns".

just use a rifle (.22), lol its like a pop gun biggrin: geez i love that thing

don't know about full rifles.
assault rifles don't recoil too much On "Basic Training" I've seen a drill sergeant fire an M-16 off his forehead, chin, and general-area-of-the-balls, to show recruits that it has little recoil. |
biggest Ive shot is a .300 win Mag, it kicks like a mule! One of the secrets to control the kick is to loosly hold your forearm do not hold it tight or you will receive the full brunt of the critter you are shooting. Started shooting on a rifle team at 12 yrs old, I was a marksman at 12!!!!!!! Guess what......Ive had guns all my life and NO CRIMES were commited, go figure. I have a .44 Mag pistol that I hunt and target shoot with it has a big kick but its easy to control
mb PS others that kick hard 7mm Mag 10 Gauge shotgun |
Hmm, so what about an M1 Garand? Anyone fired one of those?
P.S.- let's not turn this into another 'guns rights' thread. |
I heard the ak74's with the newer type muzzle brakes have the recoil of a .22.

Was great when he put it on his nuts. I wish it would of kicked like a bitch for once. SW-14, my friend has a m1 from the korean war and its awesome, but kicks pretty good. Its quite loud too, but well worth it when you empty the clip and it pings- popping out. |
a Black Powdered Rifle?
|
m-16s have low kick back
|
here's one you guys didn't think of:
A flintlock! you have to hold it steady until the burning powder travels inside the gun and sets off the main charge, kinda hard when you're getting a face full of smoke and maybe a few sparks. |
p90 owns all other smgs.
it's light weight, compact, low recoil, and has high capacity magazine |
It also has a piss poor caliber.
|
What kinda kick would a BAR give? Very bad?
|
I heard it shakes too much.
|
what about a thompson? eek:
or a PanzerShreck , or this |
My Cok has a HUGE kick-back...Any other human body couldnt handle it!
|
my water gun oOo:
|
probably hell on full auto, my dad said it kicks to the right a lot.
|
I wonder how much kick an M79 "the thump gun" can produce
|
With ererything else being equal, the more energy used, the higher the kick. Recoil is all about force being aplied to move a projectile. Moving a heavier projectile the same speed takes more energy and produces more recoil. Moving a projectile faster requires more energy. Yes, it seems obvious. Other factors come into play also though. Autos and semi autos typically produce less recoil due to the guns cycling action. Muzzle breaks and boss systems can also be employed to reduce recoil.
Rimfire rifles (.22s) typically produce the least amount of recoil. Then small caliber centerfire rifles and small shotguns. After that, maybe the larger shotguns and high caliber rifles followed by magnum shotguns and magnum high powered rifles. Again, there are more variables than just size. I have a pump 12 guage 3 1/2" mag that will knock your shoulder out of joint after a box of shells, but I can shoot the same rounds all day long out of a gas operated semi auto I have with little notice of recoil. Hope this helps answer the original ???? |
