I did it!

I now can accomplish everything I need to in order to get into th
Canadian Forces.

What I was having trouble with was running the 2.4KMS in under 11:56.
Previous attempts I ran were around 13 minutes. Today I ran it in
10:57!

Almost a whole minute under. I'm very happy. Now that I know I can do
it, i'm sure I can force myself to do it in the future.

I'm going to go to the recruiter on the 29th of this month and
hopefully be ready to go in the spring!

biggrin:

people who run for fun make me sick. our football team would pracitce inside a track on a football team and the cross country kids would run until the point where they would almost be coughing up blood. im kinda big and slow 1 mile run in 7:32

I'm on my school's track team, and I am training right now. I run the mile for my track team. I run about 3-4 miles a day. It does suck, and it is very boring. I like it a lot better than I used to though. Anyway, 2 miles in 12 minutes? That is pretty good. My best time for the mile right now is 4:57, and that isn't even good enough to make state.

There are 1.4 Kilometers in a mile, or something like that.

Miscguy 11-19-2002 06:29 PM

You guys are slow.

1 mile - 4:58
2 miles - 10:38

Im that guy running for fun. or should i say was. Now that my knee is more powder than bone i've stopped running.

Milla 11-19-2002 06:54 PM

Slow my asshole, your like a cross country star i bet. Plus you are (ex?) military? if so than thats why also

Never say that again, or be shot in the face.

Actually those times dont even make State Cross Country or Track times. My best friend who was like a 3 time state champ in cross country and 5 time state champ in track (multiple events) ran like a 4:09 mile and a 9:10 2 mile. He was fast, built for speed, skinny rail of a kid.

Im sure me training with him helped a bit, All those time were before my service. I ran a 5:10 after sitting on my ass eatting cheese burgers for a month. If you've been though infantry training at Benning in July you know the wait im talking bout. 30th AG baby... Anyone?

Forgot to get back to this thread. Yeah that time was crazy, I amazed almost everyone who thought I was just an unhealthy nerd wink: I was in peak physical condition. We were at school camp, a month long affair, and junk food and mostly anything unhealthy was not available. We ran 2Km each morning, went on 40Km plus hikes through rugged bush carrying everything we would need....about 20Kg's on our backs, or over, and the most fun we had was sporting activities like basketball, swimming, tennis, jogging. Basically I was the fittest I had ever been in my whole life and it felt great. Unfortunately I'm a sloth now, I should get back into physical form before I decide to apply for the Army.... might be wise biggrin:

Silly Aussies! biggrin:

My school camps involved small hikes, eating and listening to music. Mind you, my school is full of a bunch of slackers. And my new school doesn't do extra-curricular activities.

Innoxx 11-23-2002 12:56 AM

Bullet Sponge 11-23-2002 01:04 AM
