Mini rant on servers
 

When I go into new servers I have a couple of thoughts:

1- I hope this server is cool, and if it is I will add it to my favorites

2- If this server isnt cool, I will leave and try to find another

Thats it, end of story.

Some people seem to have a number 3 and 4 with 3 being "I will give the server admin hell if I dont like it" and 4 being "I will flame them on an online forum if they dont bow to my wishes."

Anyone that has thoughts (or actions) simliar to 3 and 4 need to get a life and move on.

Bitching about someone elses server is like going to a free dinner and thinking you have the right to bitch about the food because you brought your own knife and fork.

If i enjoy the server, i add the IP to a .txt file as a favorite. If i dont like it, im outta there.

No matter how much you bitch, they will not change for just one person.

Your best bet is to use the recommended server page on mohadmin.com, I use that to track other servers to see just how good they are.

My server is.. [cough] on the Recommended Servers list. [cough]

BTW - Keep kicking ass over there at MOHadmin.. great resource.

Jesus, i just came back from an ok server, and some fools were dissing the admin because they wouldn't allow different shit.

These people get kicked asap. But still, it just ruins the time and pacience for the admin. If anyone here does it, stop it or we will do something bad... Very bad. Something obsene and discusting. Something not even I would approve of. Something that requires a large round tube, some barbed wire, and your ass. Enough said. oOo:

WHo cares. I dont have a 1 or 2 or 3 or 4. I just go into a room and play and if I like it I stay and If I dont I leave. Nuff said.

Good for you, but is what you think the only correct way to think? I think not.

I have every right to express my displeasure with the way a server is run. Especially if it concerns the removal of game elements that I enjoy. Sure, if they say no this is the way we wanna run things, then my only recourse is to look for a different server.

But there is nothing wrong with saying that you dont like something. Now, the way you say it... oOo:

Yes, the way you express your opinion makes a lot of difference, but if you have your server set up the way you want it, you really dont want to hear about how some guy that has no time or money invested in your server thinks it should be set up. Especially if it is the first time he has ever seen you on his server.

Something to consider for people that like to make "suggestions" on how other people run their servers - No matter how much you dont like the set up - you are getting your moneys' worth.

Just my personal preferences - realism, ff off, good ping, solid server, good maps, tdm, lack of idiots, etc. I just looked at the mohadmin recommended list the other day and it has about half of my favorites listed.

I agree with pest totally. I am an admin for our server, plus i help PAY FOR IT! it really ticks my clock when someone comes in and tells me I personally suck because "MY SERVER" has ff on or some shit like that. look, heres to all those people once and for all! READ THIS NOW AND NEVER ASK AGAIN!

i get the same questions. then when i say they cant have a rocket. thats when the bad language begins. how my server sucks or what really drives me insane is theyll say this server is gay..IM LIKE..WHAT THE HELL DOES THAT MEAN.i generally answer that with..your right..were all pretty happy here..then i kick the guy..AND HE WILL COME BACK..SAY HES SORRY AND WANT TO STAY !!!!..ever see that one..anyway..i like seein other server admins standin up for what right.the more that do it.the better this game will become. just my opinion...BUTCHER

yeah, i like the free-for-all the best because you dont get people pissed off because of team killine. Most of those have good ping. The maps are good (as long as rotation is not long). Ya know

oh yes, I get the "well your server is gay anyway" all the time. My reply to that is ussually the same as yours. I mean do these people not realize that I pay for that server so that they can play there? and the damn thing is expensive too. I'd be more than happy to follow someone elses rules if THEY shelled out the $130/month it costs to have a server.
