First go on adobe....

What do you all think for my first try on adobe, please give me some advice on how to improve. |
K this is all constructive. For your first try its real good, but here goes. I noticed you use lasso on the guy on the right. When you do lasso, just go slow to make sure not to distort the shape. When you put such a light picture on a dark background, it is easoly noticed. Bell just rang, have to go to next class. Ill put more on later. biggrin:
|
you did that very good cool:

Thanks all i appreciate it. anymore advice on how to get better?
Which Tools do you all use most? |
eraser biggrin:
|
Eraser, Lasso, Magic Wand, those are my best friends, lol
|
Overall, pretty nice. You might want to decrease the opacity of the background so the image is a little less busy.
Another way to help blend that, besides the eraser in airbrush mode, is to blur it into the background. Once you have the part that you want selected, inverse the selection. Then, go to layers, and make a layer mask for hide selection. Then, once the layer mask is selected, go into filters and use Gaussian Blur on the mask to blend it. |
My friends are easer, lasso, majic wond, and the color burns and those guys.
|
Undo.
biggrin: Zone |
lmao zone funny one biggrin:
|
heh heh...the sad thing is, it's TRUE!
Seriously, I use these the most: - Eraser - Lasso - Filters > Brush Strokes - Filters > Render > Lighting Effects - Image > Adjust > Hue & Saturation - Filters > Blur > Motion Blur - Filters > Pixelate > Pointillize - Paint Bucket Zone |
i think i have only ever used paint bucket once in my life.
pS what is lasso and where can i find it? |
In Photoshop 5.5, it's the second button down on the lefthand column in the toolbox...it's directly under the rectangle selection tool.
I think it might be called "freehand selection" in some apps. Zone |
Remember, you can click and hold down on buttons to get more options. Doing that for the lasso gives you a "magnetic lasso" which sticks to the edges of a picture. Good for precise cutting, assuming the contrast between what you want and what you don't want is good enough.

i have adobe photoshop the latest version any tips on doing back grounds? i want to be able to blend in how do i go about that?
And about the airbrush, i tried selecting that to have a go at blending but when i used it, it sprayed out paint. how do i stop this? |

Another go, what do you think? |
nice! your pretty good at cut outs!
|
I guess you misunderstood me. You don't want to use the airbrush itself. Go into the eraser tool, and the toolbar at the top of the screen will have a drop down menu that has options like pencil, airbrush, and paintbrush. That changes how the eraser works. You get a light erase effect when you use it in airbrush mode.
|
hmmmz will check that out and get back to you.
|

I checked it out and tried to give it a go, but didn't work the way i wanted it, i want a tool that is good for blending. What you all think of this sig? |
hmmmz, looks like no-one wants to help now cry:
|
blending can be done a million ways. depends on what type of blending you want to have done.
as for your sigs. DO NOT OVERUSE LAYER STYLES! they are unimaginative to say the least. layer styles (bevel & emboss, outer glow, etc) are ok because you are just starting out. my advice to you is to do some hard research into tutorials and such. here are a few sites to help you out. http://www.teamphotoshop.com http://www.tutorialforums.com http://www.thewebmachine.com http://www.phong.com http://www.planetphotoshop.com http://www.photoshopcafe.com http://www.eyeball-design.com that's about all i can think of right now. here is a good tutorial on cutting out complex objects (such as hair) from their background and readying them for transplant to a new background. http://www.myjanee.com/tuts/hair/hair.htm if you are just cutting out a simple object like that soldier, don't use the lasso at all. use the pen tool. it's frustrating when you first start using it but once you get it it's a great skill to have. the best thing about tutorials is that you learn how to do new things with old tools. it also shows options you would otherwise disregard. as for the tools that i use? every single one. good luck with photoshop. i hope you enjoy it as much as i do. and if you have any questions go to http://www.teamphotoshop.com/forums there are a lot of people there willing to help. |
thanks a-pek very much appreciated.

Another messabout on adobe got me this, anyone like it? |
nice and sober spiderman
good job m8 |
Thanks mate, that was just a mess about, i'm trying to learn how to do backgrounds better
|
try taking a photo background (any photo) then on a new layer applying your render/clouds (also try difference clouds for more contrast). use a large, soft(pressure-wise) brush for your erasor and delete some of the clouds. mess with the opacity or hue (anything like that) till it looks good. it'll give you a nice cloudy effect over a photo backdrop.
that same effect i'm talking about was used to make this sun flare (a LOT more steps went into this but you get the idea). http://www.teamaftermath.com |
very nice Spider! a little work maybe on the cut out.
|
Thanks all, please keep the hints and tips coming, i am saving them in notpad and using them (well i'm trying to) oOo:

i m also trying to make my own sig but how do you make the sig smaller (i mean the kilobytes) and how do i have to save it to jpg or gif thx |
nice agian spiderman, the second one is the best cool:

When you save the picture, choose .jpg instead of .psd and use the quality slider to adjust the size of the pic. I generally use the Baseline Optimized option with 9 or 10 quality.
|
ok thx mangum
here is my first one (i know its not difficult for you guys but for me oOo: ) and i know its almost the same as the one i have but i like red biggrin: |
