Zoner Photoshop Tutorial #1 - Custom Camo Text
Man, I really AM bored at work. Here's a tutorial on how to make kewl camo text in Photoshop 5.5. Enjoy!
1) Create a new image. Click the Text tool and place some text on the image. 2) Choose the Filter menu, then Pixelate, then Pointillize (Filter > Pixelate > Pointillize). Say Yes to the dialog box asking if you want to render the layer. Play around with the cell size in the Pointillize dialog box until you get a size you like. 3) Choose Filter > Brush Strokes > Sprayed Strokes to make the edges of the pointillized cells jagged. Just use trial and error until you find the right amount of "jaggedness". 4) Choose Image > Adjust > Hue & Saturation. Check off the Colorize checkbox and make the text whatever colour you want. You can then add drop shadows, lighting effects, etc to the text (which I will not go into here). Voila! Camo text! Was this helpful? If so, I might do some more down the road, when I get time. Zone |
helped me thats for sure. thats where my sigs get let down in the font area. cheers zoner

Looks good. Of course, if you wanted a specific camo pattern, all you would need to do is overlay an image over the text by messing around with the layers.
|
Yessir, that would work too. This is if you wanted to get in there and muck around with making your own custom effects and not rely on a pre-existing image for the camo.
Good tip tho. Zone |
i did this just messing around after zoners little tutorial in fonts

gettin' there. One thing you might wanna try is to make the foreground and background colours REALLY different in hue and lightness. Try a dark red and a light yellow, for example.
By doing that you'll get better contrast with the pointillized cells within the text. Zone |

This was very helpful to me. Can you maybe do one on layers so i can make a sig picl like Wolf or YoMattYo. biggrin:
|
The font I used in the example is called Ethnocentric. I found an awesome place for fonts. Try http://www.1001fonts.com
P'raps I'll make a poll and see what the next tutorial should be. Layers might be a little hard to show by example, but I could try. Zone |
Yeah, thanks a lot Zoner! =( I dont even know what the hell layers do, and how to use them. lol, i'm a n00b at PSP7. oOo:

In a nutshell, when you add anything to an image, you should make a new layer first. This keeps every element of the image separate.
For example, I have a kickass Saving Private Ryan image of Ramelle and I want to place Tom Hanks in the foreground. Instead of just pasting Tom into the Ramelle image (essentially merging both images together) I paste Tom as a new layer. This keeps both image layers separate. So, if I wanted to remove Tom from the pic, I could just delete that particular layer. Layers are useful for blending using transparency and a whole slew of other things. Here's a pretty simplistic tutorial on layers that may help out: http://www.digitalhints.com/pstuts/pslayers.htm As with any software, you have to tinker with it and play around to get good at it. Do some reading and apply what you've learned. Good luck. Zone |

|
yes but a will expermind with it a little more so maybe i find it myself
thx |
ok. if you dont get it right it might be worth giving zoner a shout to ask him for more specific instructions.
|
To get the different lightness and darkness in the text, I used Filters > Render > Lighting Effects.
I picked the 5 Lights Up preset and just fiddled around with the position of the 5 lights until I got somethin' I liked. Zone |
i ll give it a try
thx zoner |
hehe this is fun
i cant wait till you post your next tutorial cool: |
