jv_map was the person who made bots for MP games, but currently, the bots only work for a single map. He hopes to get them working for all maps sometime in the future.

Hi,

He just answered my pm (thx joe :P) and heres his reply...

"I'm afraid it's not possible to add bots to the original maps as I need to make a lot of modifications to actual map.

Thanks for feedback nonetheless."

DAMN I really loved those bots, was hoping to do sniper training with them offline :(

Yeah, I asked him about this. There's alot of hard coding into the .TIK and .SCR files that would need to be copied with each map, meaning each MP map would need to be re-distributed with the files in order for them to work. This was the same deal when I tried porting the gwergranite from the SH demo; it would work, but the file would be massive, as in 100's of MB's, for ONE map!

jv_map 01-07-2003 02:35 PM

The problem is slightly more complicated. Redistributing loads of .tik and .scr files wouldn't really be a problem, they aren't much more than a few kb's in size. Distributing modified maps is much more troublesome, but still possible. Where the real problem lies, is the fact that the bsp files supplied with the game aren't modifiable at large scale. I.e. you might be able to add one entity or so with a hex editor, but adding all the support entities is good as impossible. Only option left is to wait for Scorpio's decompiler to get more advanced - although it isn't very likely it will ever produce a high standard map file - or to only add bots to user made maps, of which the .map file is available.

So at the moment the latter is the only opportunity of 'exploiting' bots.

It would be nice if someone held a big-head @ EA for ransom for their MOH source code. biggrin:

simple,
bots are essentially nanites which you must physically install in the CPU and RAM.
First you drill holes in the CPU and RAM, then you use a needle to inject the nanites in said hole.
