Why are there so many people down on MOH:AA yet the same time you see a bunch of them playing it via the www.gamespy.com/stats ?
I see this game as superior to others, the death animations, the feel of the weapons, the slower yet strategic gameplay, the voice system is far better than even Tribes in my opinion because enemy voices can be heard from their positions. The various models and the fact each team has an advantage and disavantage in weaponary. There is actual location damage. The graphics seem to be on par with other games including "RTCW" .. in fact the lens flare effect, the volumetric smoke, and shadows are superior to it. The only thing I can imagine is that people think darker games are better graphically, but that's simply an illusion - try turning up the gamma in Wolf. So why are there people who are so hostile toward this game? Why do they feel a need to get on servers and forums to attack this game/demo? Any thoughts on this? I'm just confused because I find this game the best I've ever played so far. What am I missing? Thanks. [This message has been edited by quiet (edited December 21, 2001).] |
yes....

I think it's cuz that some people either have such high expectations for the game, or that the game isn't suited to their liking (not realistic enough, for instance) so that they prejudge the game based upon it's demo.
|
Will this game gain most of its following through single player (such as half-life) and possibly get the realism they need through mods (again like HL)?
|
Honestly In my opinion :
I think allot of people want it to be more like Quake or UT and its too realistic for them. |
With the speed of running, I couldn’t see it being a problem until I saw the new D-Day video from Gamespy, I just think a sprint option on that mission would help, god knows if I was there, assuming I was not killed, I would be running my damn as off! Just seeing him run from cover to cover just seemed a little slow.
But it would be the only mission you would use it in, so it’s not big deal. |
too realisitc?
The problem i have, and i think many of the bashers have is that it simply isn't realisitc at all, in fact its just like all the other HL/Quake like shooters, but it was hyped into being a "realistic" game. Releasing a decent map which doesn't constantly turn into a rocket fest would have stopped most of the critisism, (I think EA would admit they messed up the demo release) also I'm slightly disappointed with the graphics but realise the demo was scaled down and full game will be better. The only way multi will be successful is if the game can pull people away from the likes of DoD and RTCW, nothing I have seen makes me think that is going to happen but then i haven't charged up Omaha Beach yet http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/smile.gif Will look forward to being proved wrong. |
Skidrowpunk, I think he was crouching...

He does seem to be at eye height with the other crouching soldiers.

Its probably almost as many as RTCW at its "HIGH" times. (HIGH Time = When eveyone is on their computer) |
I think the best think they could have done for the MP demo is release an outdoor map, say. omaha beach, aswell as the current map, it may have been to more ppls tastes then, rather than ppl judging a 1 mapped demo.

Well Had they Released the Omaha map instead of the Stalingrad Map,We would have ben innundated by the flood of people saying "IT is Just like RTCW" or "why are they copying RTCW",or anything else of that nature.....I think the Stalingrad map is a pretty basic, fun, yet small map that is NOT by any means complete, but it gives us an Idea of what we will be In store for Later.

i dunno, everyone i talk to has sort of been "won" over to MOH's camp soon after playing RTCW... maybe it just gets too old too fast, this is fresh meat
or maybe its just more appealing? i know for myself, i spent $90CAN on the damn thing... and played the single player on easy in 2 days, didnt even feel like wanting to play through it again..... and the multiplayer i played twice... now its dusting my shelf quite nicely.... grrrr i just didnt feel at all like i enjoyed the multiplayer... not one bit on the other hand.. MOH demo has kept me up almost late enough these past few nights to miss a quiz and exam http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/biggrin.gif ------------------ ----Savour Since 1982---- |

And why would they want to spoil Omaha Beach to a crappy demo?? |

I was like "WTF is that it"? all those years developing it.... hey....I'll do my best to spread the word on this game. If this game gets more ppl playing than RTCW, I will be a very happy person. http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/biggrin.gif |
lol I know. I had exams all week this week. I downloaded the MOHAA demo Sunday. Well... let's put it this way. I probably failed all my exams... but I got to play this tight demo
|
Well if you ask me, then it would be a big mistake by realising the "Omaha beach" map for the demo... http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/icons/icon30.gif

It's all a matter of preference. I happen to think this game is great. Some games grow on you so you need to have an attention span longer than 5 minutes, many lack that. If it doesn't instantly gratify them, then to them the game sucks. No matter what game comes out there are going to be bashers. Lucky for us folks who enjoy the game we outnumber the bashers.

I just thought they may have release both maps to give a taste of outdoor battle..... Well if not omaha, another outdoor 1?

yeah they should release some other outdoor map though... |
Besides the graphics, im not sure why people like this better than DOD when this is only a demo, with one map, what is so special about it besides the graphics?, i hate the fact that there is bazookas in the game too, in such a small map, then you get shot point blank with one and the other guy doesent even die?, i dont think its a matter of comparing the games, it wether people want to believe this game is good or not, most of you came into the game wanting it to be good, and wouldent tell yourselfs any different no matter that flaws, you would only see the good things, i play a lot of world war 2 sims, but this one does not take the cake, you lag with more than 5 people on most servers, the shotgun is the l33t weapon(for the demo anyway), but for the most part the weapons are pretty well balanced, they just basically used the same DOD weapon outload, i have been waiting for this game for a long time, since i played playstation version, i thot that was the coolest fps game every, so for multiplay this game is errr so so, rather play dod, for the single player this game should should be good, i just hope its life the playstation version more than a remoldled completely different game making it like the rest.

Yeah I got RTCW and beat it in a week on normal and towards the last 2 missions I didnt even feel like playing it but I wanted to see how it was going to end......Needless to say I am disappointed in the whole RTCW experiance myself.

whenever I play RTCW, it's always in the high 600's. I've seen lots of time going over 750+.
