I'd have to say Vietnam, just because it showed that war has advanced over the years. They don't stand in lines and shoot eachother anymore. Plus it was a new way of fighting, instead of sending brigades into battle, mostly platoons and smaller units did the fighting.

As for battle, I'd have to say the battle of hill 881 in vietnam, when a USA Army 101st Airborne Platoon overran an entire NVA Regiment. For numbers that's about 45 americans vs. 3000 NVA.

BallisticWookie 07-04-2001 04:25 AM

Damn right about Star Wars http://www.pcgamers.net/ubb/biggrin.gif !!!!!

But seriously, either WW2 or the Gulf War.

Von Paulus 07-04-2001 05:46 AM

I'm more interested in individual battles and campaigns than entire wars eg; Verdun, Stalingrad etc. But in wars I'd say WW2, The Boer War and WW1...

The reason they used ONLY Squads and Platoons was because of the terrain...

It was all forest and hills.. very bad terrain for vehicles.. Also I might say, aircraft was not very affective due to the enemy hiding in there 'holes' when we bombed them... Helicopters were used a lot though http://www.pcgamers.net/ubb/wink.gif, and very affective for transportation..
