Well I really screwed myself over this time. I dont sleep most nights until about 5 am. Dont ask why, even i dont know, pills do nothing. Well anyhow most days thats fine because i dont work until late 3pm or so getting off sometime around 11:30 or midnight. Well i did that last night, 11/20. Today, 11/21 i have to be to work at 8 am.

So i pondered this for a while and decided i would take the hard route through this, why because im daring? Because i like pushing my body to the limits? No because im a fucking idiot. I decided to stay up from 11:00 am 11/20 until late tonight, after going to work. So around 36 hours or so, not to hard, done it before. So why is this so stupid you ask?

Well this is stupid because i have the most boring job i know of. I stand for 8.5 hours. Thats right just stand. Maybe walking time to time. Hey if there willing to pay me $9.00 an hour for 40 hours a week with benefits, i'll take it. Anyhow so this is my personal challenge / hell.

I just thought i'd make a random 5:15 am post about what im going to do today.

Rent a cop. i only work when something happens... nothing ever happens.

i use to have horrible sleeping patters. i would go to bed at 4 am, wake up at 7 for school. when i didnt have school i slept until 5 pm. then i finally started going to bed at like 12 at night... but i woke up at like 5 am.

thats sad only $9 an hour for that shit u should have got a trade and ern real money like me biggrin:

OKAY. Gather around men; let me tell you about the Force... err, I mean,
my personal experience with security-related jobs.

My first job EVER was as a scanography technician: a very fancy way of sayin'
x-ray dude. It was at the canadian parliament and tourists just came in all
the time, so bag after bag had to be put into the machine and we'd look to
see if any bombs or knives were being taken in. Another part of the job was
telling people to get ready to take out any metallic objects they had in their
pockets so the detector wouldn't sound off needlessly: if they beeped, one
of the guards near the rear of the room would GARRETT them (use a hand-
held metasl detector). Did I mention breaks were short and we were always
standing up? The job sucked wolfy balls and after one summer's worth, I
was happy to leave.

The other security job I had was at Toys'R'us. Yes, Toys'R'us... STOP
LAUGHING! Anyway, it was during Christmas time and they wanted to
minimize theft in the electronics section, so they hired me and said
"your job is to walk around in the electronics section with your security
coat and look for thieves", to this I replied: "and what if I see a crime
in progress? do I arrest out of store?" and he said "no, you only walk
around..." Needless to say, I wanted to laugh and tell him how stupid
his idea was, but decided to go against that because the job was great:
employees were paid 8$ or something while I got an extra dollar to
walk around and chill. My feet were killing me though...

That's about all I can think of at the moment; if some more comes to
mind, I will be sure to post it here for your entertainment biggrin:

Yeah thats kind of stupid. You have no power, but if someone saw you with a security coat and such, I doubt very much their going to try to steal something. Its a deterrent.

I have a friend who works at sears and he gets to sit up in a booth and control the cameras. He says they turn the recorder off sometimes and follow hot chicks around with the camera. He also gets to go out on the floor and the guys up in the boot tells him who is stealing or commiting a crime and he gets to go and catch them.

cashier at a grocery store, the 6 hour shift is the worst...3 hours straight, 15 minutes break, 3 more hours straight of standing and acting friendly to mostly rude people/whitetrash that smell of jackets with 10 year old cigarette smoke

My Job:

From 12am - 9am, Mon - Thursday, I sit behind a counter, watching DVDs, for 15 NZ Dollars an hour....It can be fun, I only get like 9 or 10 customers a week, most of them coming in at 7 - 9am period....So I spend most of my time alone....The thing is, when I get home in the morning, I Don't sleep.

I sit at the computer, posting on forums, maybe go out and do something with my mates. Throw in a 2 - 3 hour nap in there somewhere, then, on Friday and Saturday nights I go out and get heavily inebriated with my friends. I sleep in large the next morning.

That's my life at the moment.

Aw man, my job SUCKS! from 10 to 5 I sit around assembling various drug paraphenelia, sort vinyl, and run errends for the boss. I get lots of breaks (in fact, I think I work in the only place in town that has a 4:20 break). Get this.... get this.... I get paid 12 bucks an hour..... my job is hell. KILL ME NOW!

Over the summer I was up till 5 am playing MOHAA, then I'd sleep till like 2 in the afternoon.

Now I go to bed at 1 am and wake up at 7:45

i cant wait till christmas is over, I work friday-tuesday 9 hours each...even on freaking christmas eve!

That sucks. I'm quiting my job on tomorrow, if I work up the nerve...Otherwise I'll just leave for the next two weeks or so...

Ohh you poor little deprived soul. $12 works out at around £7.50 sterling.
Most people in Scotland earn around £4-5 ($8) at most, in the every day jobs like cashier, checkouts, sales assistant etc. consider yourself lucky.

Man, you guys are pussies. I have insomnia, probably got around 3 hours of sleep last night

Sleeping is very enjoyable.

So is two brazilian supermodels give you a pole varnish, but I ain't getting any.

heh..... every weekday (for school) i always go to bed at around 2 or 3, simply becuz im not tired..... I only go to bed if Im tired, i dont force my body to sleep..... and I wake up at 7:45.

I always go to bed at like 1:30 or 2 on weekdays, and wake up at 7:15

I don't force anything, but when i have time to sleep, damnit I sleep.

i have bloodshot eyes everyday

Quit smoking the hippie hay.

I need 10 hours of sleep from 10pm till 8am to not be tired. If I sleep from 2am-12pm i'll be tired.

If I get anything less than about 7 ours of sleep i'll be a zombie.

Boot will be fun for me getting 6 hours of sleep and waking up at 5am.

Well ok heres my update from my action packed day. I stood around, checking out all the hot chicks who came in, a very nice selection to say the least. In fact thats the only reason i really keep the job, the "scenery" is the best i've found. Anyhow, get to work at 8am do the standard bullshit checklist and such. So around 9 thats over with and im just hanging around talking to people. 11 one of my partners shows up and starts his shift, i take a break at 10 for some food. So me and my bud catch up on some old times, since he's just working for the holidays and i hadnt seen him in a year or so. Sometime around 11 my boss shows up and we shoot the shit for a while. Noon i take lunch. Nothing happens until 2 when i take my last break. Sometime around 3 we run into some potencial shop lifters and i give them a scare and they drop the crap and leave (its easier than writing the report) 3:45 i get ready to leave and im feeling fine, not the least bit tired. I was 45 minutes over and they dont allow overtime so i cut.

Before i came home i bought an X-Box for the fuck of it. Came home dropped that off, then ran some erronds with my room mate. About 9 or so we get back from doing that, and i start hooking up the X-box, play a little Halo for a test run then remember this thread.

So now its 10:25 and i still havnt gone to sleep and im not tired at all. So much for the worry and concern i guess. Im trying to decide if i should see how long i can go, or if i should take my ussual sleeping pill and try to pass out.

What is your job? I get to drive for 8 hrs a day with excellent pay. I can honestly say that I have yet to experience a boring day on the job!

thats almost exactly what i do.. i go to sleep at 2 at the latest but its not cuz i dont want to sleep its cuz i put off my HW and i have to finish it for the next day..

I stand around all day too. Usually around the local middle school, but sometimes the high school too. The kiddies give me their lunch money and I give them the little baggy.

The benefits suck, but the cash is good. evil:

same here. ive even been to the doctor for it ... pills (over the counter) work, but i never get a full nights sleep, and it takes up to an hour sometimes to fall asleep hake:

NyQuil is the way to go, d00d.

Anyone used melitonine before? Its the chemical your brain uses to induce sleep naturally. You can get it at those hippy shops, i mean the natural tree hugging save the whales shop. I havnt found one around here and cant find Melatonine anywhere else.

I've heard its pretty bad ass, works like a charm. I tried it years back and it seemed to work pretty well.
