Any famous family members?

My aunt has been researching my family (on my fathers side) and found some interesting stuff over the years. I am a sixth great nephew of General William T. Sherman and his younger brother John who was a senator (Republican of course) and Secretary of the Treasury under President Hayes and ran for the nomination of the republican party for president but lost to Former General Grant. He also served one year as Secretary of State under President McKinley but died due to failing health.

Anyone else have some famous relatives?

Bucknub 12-24-2002 03:03 PM

Grandfather was a mob figure.

ninty 12-24-2002 03:12 PM

All I know is that on my dads side, my great great etc. grandfather came to canada from France in 1640 something. So i'm like 10th generation Canadian on that side. he was the first "Trudel" to come to North America. So if you ever meet another Trudel, you will know that my Great great etc. grandfather was the first trudel on the continent. And therefore I own j00 all.

Then on my moms side I have American in me cause my grandmothers parents were from North Dakoda or some place like that. I also have Irish, Scottish, Italian and Swiss on that side as well.

And thats all I know. There were probably some cool people along the way, but I don't really know. I think someone coming to Canada in the 1600's is pretty cool though. Just vast wilderness. Basically some of the first people to come here.

No one really famous in my heritage. My Grandpa was part of the orignal 101st Airborne which is cool. But my freind Steve's grandpa has had the most electro shock through him. When they lived in the country, he was installing a satelite dish on top of a barn and got struck with lighting. He lost 1 arm or some shit. He never accepted Ginesess award cause he was embarssed, but he still holds the record!

Old Reliable 12-24-2002 05:58 PM

What age is he? that would clear up the mystery.

Slinky2397 12-24-2002 06:23 PM

My Grandpa also did research, and my 6th great cousin is Amelia Airheart.

Vance 12-24-2002 06:27 PM

Oh, well my relatives arent famous......but a TON of them were in the Armed forces. 2 of my uncles were, 1 in Vietnam (Minesweeper) and the other during the 80's. My 2 grandfathers were also in the armed forces. 1 was in the navy, on a destroyer during WWII. And the other was in the Air Force during the Korean War. My half-grandfather was also in the navy during WWII. My great great grandfather was in the Civil War. Also, my grandmother used to be a part of the women's work force during WWII, making tanks for the Armored Divisions. To continue this tradition, I plan on enlisting in the Army after I graduate from High School.

Captain Bunny 12-24-2002 06:48 PM

Well i dont have any famous people that stand out, but my great grandad was world champion highland dancer, if all the living relatives of about 200 familes all died in a freak boating accident, the clan i am decended from would take over the throne making me a prince and future king of great britian.
my great uncle flew as a tail gunner in stirling bombers, and was shot down twice. the second time the tail was cut off and he landed in a tree, still in the tail. the first time though he, along with the crew were ordered to bail out, the pilot then told the co pilot to bail out, and he ditched the plane in the english channel but was killed. he got a postumous victoria cross (or for dumbies, thats the British version of medal of honor). brave pilot saved his crews life for his own.

Innoxx 12-24-2002 06:49 PM

My great uncle was the former president of The Phillipines, Carlos P. Garcia.

Chango 12-24-2002 07:07 PM

Zap. USMC 12-24-2002 09:51 PM

One of my ancestors was a knight that served in England.

I had many ancestors who rode along the Mayflower to settle in the "New World".

When Napoleon rode thru Poland to invade Russia, one of his soldiers defected and married a Polish gal, which started the Polish tradition which still stands today :)

My Grandfather (fathers side) was in the Army Air Corp for awhile, then went Infantry and was in the 3rd ID and served throughout WWII. My other Grandfather (mothers side) served in the US NAVY during WWII; Pacific Theater. My Step Grandfather served in the US ARMY as a Tank gunner, WWII.

My Uncle served in the US MARINES during Korea, INFANTRY. My other Uncle served in the US AIR FORCE, KOREA. My Father was in the US ARMY for 20 years.

A lot of my family is ex-military. Soon will I as well :)
