Demo movie from a recent TWL match.
Demo is from [RDH] vs. |BoS| on TWL for rung 11. December 23rd, 2002.
Final score 10-6 for the [RDH]. Description: 1 round through my eyes on the V2 map. I give my best shot in a 5 on 1... killed 4 enemy before lady luck up and left. http://control-alt-delete.ca/mohaa/demo1.wmv (23 megs 320x240 24fps 4:30 in length) |BoS|GI Jerk |
Very cool. What do you use to record it?
|
Also what blood mod do you use?
|
To record it I used....
gf4 ti4200 w/TV-out played into a VCR
VCR played back into an ATI TV-tuner/Video capture card. Encoded from AVI to WMV using windows media encoder 8 using a medium quality bitrate. (700 kilobits per/sec) You could skip the VCR step if you use a 2nd computer to do the recording.....you'd save a lot of quality from being lost too. Theoretically I could pump the TV-out straight into the vid-capture card but the framerate would royally suck. |

LoL...no kidding. I showed it to my clanmates yesterday and one of the guys got so wrapped up in it (fullscreen) that he told me he was trying to move/shoot/reload etc. etc. for me cuz he thought he was really in the battle...laff. |
Hey GI, I enjoyed watching your match! It sounds like you were using Team Speak, or something like it to talk to your mates. I have simply GOT to take the time and get set-up for actual in-game dialogue. Anyway, that was great fun watching you work through the map. Thanx for sharing it.

What about the mod for the BAR brass? It sounded different when they hit the ground.
PS: Jerk, would you be willing to write a small guide on how to record demos, maybe a few pictures, for both myself and to post @ http://www.mohadmin.com? |
Ya sure Joe, I'd be happy to. An HTML guide perhaps?
No mod for the casings.....just stock sounds although I do prefer awesunds2.2 |
Yeah, my plan would to make a text version of it for MOHAdmin.com, then put a link at the top of the guide saying something like "Click here for HTML version".
|
Basically, I'm looking for a guide to put an end to all questions about demos:
-What tools could be used -Benefits/Losses in using certian methods -All methods known to use -Complete "newb" explanations, and any pics to go along with it. |
felt like i was just playing oOo: good job though fire2:
|
Nothing like when we have a match lol, you guys really communicated well, maybe you guys could play us and make a vs BoRo demo hehe biggrin:
|
Them voices sounded alot like Jasper and Timdog, heh
|
K Joe.... I think I covered all the bases. This is still preliminary so if you think I missed anything or worded things too confusingly then by all means...let me know

Good idea Joe, i guide on how to record demos would be cool...i was asking on how to do it some weeks before .

Jerk, EXCELLENT. Are you famuliar with Adobe's Premiere at all? I think that's the one used for film editing.
PS: Do you mind if I re-amp the text a little bit? Add in TOC links? (So when you click them, they goto the designated section.) PM me your email if you want me to send you the HTML text file. |

Maybe if they have a screenshot of it on the Adobe website it can be added along with the manufacturers description. As far as adding Target= to the HTML, by all means. You've got the URL, you can right click and save pictures..... take it away man. |
Thanks, I'll take care of this when I get home.
The only reason I recommend Primere is because its highly recommended by alot of people for video editing. But hey, your video is fine. If that' the way you did it, then I'll go with that. I just watned to know if you knew the proggie so we could add it to the guide. Is there anyone that is famuliar with editing video with Primere that would like to contribute to Jerk's guide? If not, I'll just submit this. |

That's exactly what I meant. My card only has 4 megs of ram onboard and doesn't have the newer smaller (file size) codec available to you....such as Mpeg-4. I have to do mine in YVU-9 which is basically RAW uncompressed data whereas your card compresses the picture to mpeg-4 on the fly. That means my harddrive spins like a top. This really gets me thinking that I need a new card. I'm jealous..LoL. |
Nice movie! So, that's what lean/strafing looks like, huh? heh heh

So which card do you recommend then Jerk? I'm looking at either that external USB ATI, or a card by Hauppage. What do you think?

Well Joe, I havent followed the technology of capture cards. I bought one 6 years ago and as you can see it serves me well, being the dinosaur that it is.(PCI) My opinion is uneducated. I can say this about ATI however.... When I bought the original ATI "All In Wonder" card for disgusting $274 CDN before tax, it came with a manufacturers rebate to the tune of $80 or so... I forget. The rebate said to wait 6-8 weeks. After 3 forever's and 3 emails (unrepsonded) I decided to phone them. It took 8 months to get something from ATI I was told to wait 6-8 weeks for. The composite video in-out on my card got fried hooking up a VCR with the my bawx turned on. My friend who has the identical card (only paid $6 in a church basement sale 5 years later...GRRR) also has the same in-outputs fried. Bear that in mind. Definately go with one that supports MPEG-4 though.... that's basically what the VOB files are on a DvD movie. |

Well we're on TWL and OGL....we scrimage for fun too...twl@bos-clan.com or ogl@bos-clan.com for challenges..drop by the server and talk to one of the Captains about scrimaging some time. As for the video, sure...be happy to.... and if ya trust me nuff to be impartial and keep my mouth shut on teamspeak, (i've got integrity) i'll do it from your clan's point of view too. Otherwsie all you'll see is me killing a lot of your team off. cool: |
rodger dodger. I'll make sure to look into that. I'm almost certian that Hauppage make's the best ones. PS: I'll have that webpage done by Sunday night, monday.
