56k modem
 

i have a lovely 56k modem, and i hate it. My game play for MOHAA is shit. It takes me 3 or 4 seconds to shoot, which gets me killed all the time. Does anyone here know what i could do besides get a new ISP or cable? Does anyone here have 56k and have a smooth gaming fantasy/experience?

The only possible thing is use a proggie called iSpeed to tweak your modems registry settings to try to boost your connection. Make sure you read the readmes on how to use it carefully! Check either http://www.download.com or http://www.google.com for it.

why not just spend the extra money on the upgrade?

Yeah, i had the same problem, SpecialAgentPunk. So i just invested in Cable! Booo-yea!

Hooked to your computer, and the telephone connection.

im on 56k, when i play on servers in the same country i get a ping of around 130-200. been playing on 56k for ages, you just have to aim slightly in front so the opponent runs into your line of fire.

When I played with my 56k I got pings at like 145. My freind has DSL and he gets 200 ping, it was funny!

Hmmm well i get pings of between 20-30 n still get booted for high ping before i join a server! go figure....p.s im just ranting...BUTCHER kindly answered me the reason why...

56k is evil. so fustratin when bullets dont respond and that..grrrr i remember when i used 2 play counter strike and i cudn't move...altho my 56k was pretty bad compaired 2 some others..now i share 600k with my bro :D

I use cable and notice alot of 56kers lag us up and get whacked pretty quickly in most game.......just get a cable modem. Its well worth it if you spend alot of time online!

Depends if he can get it in his area, i know a few people that are like 30 feet out of range of getting it. oOo:

Im out in the country so no high speed for me. i dont even bother, i play at a lan game room with a nice fat T1!

i get 100-500 ping and i have dsl, I LIVE IN ALASKA!!!!!

i have dsl and i get a ping like 30 - 90 on most servers

highest ping i ever got on a laggy server was 215 but i usually go from 30 - 100

well, im the original message guy... and i say fuck this. I live in Hawaii. Too hard to be a 56ker in hawaii. So im deleting allied assult and getting Americas Army! WHOO! THATS RIGHT! I joinin the ranks.

As much as At&t cable can suck ass at times, my ping has always been in the low 30's. They increased the speed of the connections for us too. I used to run 900 kbps, but now its over 2000. Not bad for a cable line.
