Hmm, is that Classified as black? Isn't that classified as arib or something. I had this Indian (from India) who always called himself a nigger and shit. Can we just sum everything up into who is and who isn't? I'd just like to know for music sakes.
Oh, and hi painswessex. Weird name. =\ |
Would you shut the fuck up wolf!
Hey Wessex, you may not rememer me too well, but we got a vet forum set up if you want to join. [url:380ed]http://www.digital-agony.com/vets/forums/phpBB2/[/url:380ed] Remember, use the same name as you do here in AA.com. Welcome back my fellow British Columbian. |
Youre on the HMCS Winnipeg right now? And you have tie to visit an internet forum?

He's on a Canadian Frigate that is in the gulf as part of Operation Apollo which is the war against terrorism, NOT for Iraq.
|

No he wouldn't be a soldier. There are no soldiers on the frigates, They are partol frigates. They were there in support of the battle group we sent to afghanistan. Now they are there to check ships leaving the gulf and make sure they are doing nothing illegal.

Working on a ship similar to this one: |
Oh yeah, and I agree, battleships are wayyyyyy obsolete. Too big, too slow, and too expensive. What modern navies need are smaller cruiser type ships that are nimble fast and can preform a lot of tasks.
|
yeah, that's true, but they were great platforms for providing artillery support for seaborne assaults and invasions.
|
No bdoubt. But the key word is WERE.
They were the perfect tool during world war 2. Nowadays however, they are not needed. |

Glad to see that people remember me. I know this might be old but just picked up spearhead and i think it was to short. Hard but short. The reason why i havent been here for a while is that i just found out that the internet on the ship let me on this site. I hope to keep up with the forum. People feel free to email me and we will chat.
ls.m.hart@dnd.ca Hello Capt. John How the *&^% are you? Email me i would love to catch up on old times. |

Plus when reagan ordered the recomm. the ships were extensively upgraded with new electronics and self-defense such as Phalanx guns. There was a project for 11" sabot rounds fired from the 16" guns which would extend their range to 100 nautical miles (more than the Harpoon cruise missile) also the rounds would be radar and laser guided. Also the 23nm range of the standard 16" HE shell is plenty for supporting Marine landings think about it, would you waste a cruise missile or expensive smart bomb to blow up a guy camping in a foxhole with an RPG-7 waiting for Marine hovercrafts or would you just drop a big shell on him? Also the only cruise missiles that will pierce a BBs armor are the new Russian supermissiles like the "Granit" and Russia is not selling those to anyone yet. Battleship armor is practically impervious to crappy subsonic (aka exocet type) missiles that rogue nations or China could get their hands on. |

lol a 76mm gun throwing as much explosive as 9 406mm guns? |
i think i'd rather have armor than manuverability, considering one can blow you out of the water with a guided missile hake:
|
I'd take that little 2-pegged boat from Battleship, what was that, the Cruiser? heh
|
Wessex come in our IRC chat room #alliedassault.com biggrin:
