Tractor Works v1.0 Released....
 
"Tractor Works" multi-player map released, v1.0 The map is mid-size and prefers higher end machines, sorry. It is also a SPEARHEAD map, as what Stalingrad theme would work without the Russian???? None, just ask my wife!

Constructive critisism and suggestions are welcome! It's got some areas that could be tweaked more, but after 3 non-stop months and 300 hours, I've got to get it off my machine!

Hope you enjoy! TOW/OBJ in the planning. Increased FPS and other tweaks will follow........

2 problems i noticed so far.

1. i see in the pictures that there is heavy fog, but when i tested it, there was no fog and my FPS went in the toilet.

2. in one of the metal shafts, you have to duck to go in, but no matter what you do, you cant get out.

ill let you know if i find any others.

1. Fog...in the .scr file for 7168 units...no idea why you wouldn't see any.
2. Metal shaft/pipe?? No idea which one you mean. The one that is bent, you HAVE to duck to get into. Then you can enter the large furnace-y thing via ladder or free fall.... ladder out. The other area I think it could be is the long connected pieces where one end is where the bent piece fell away. Back there in the other direction is a joint in the ducts, on one side is a ladder up to the next section. Is a dim light in this piece.

uploaded the updated .scr file yesterday (jan 14). It's good to go. Been toying with other aspects and have improved the FPS a good bit for the OBJ version. I'll re-release the DM version WITH the OBJ so that at that time everyone will be on the same page.

Always seems that as soon as ya release something figuring you can't improve it, you get some outside idea or your own moment of enlightenment and then what??!!! Next version, I guess!

Actually, I've got version 1.1 nearly complete, finalizing a few details of the pk3 now. Playtesting on live server tomorrow of version 1.0....unless I can get 1.1 uploaded to them in time. I'll know more later, waiting until later today for that news. 1.1 is SO much better... got FPS up 20% in many areas, map low is about 60fps and tops 100 in most areas. Better lighting too! Hang in there a few more hours.

Beautiful.. now we need to find a server to run this 24/7, because I run my own server and NEVER get tired of it, its not the same over and over.

Thanks for the enthusiasm! I GUARENTEE you that the updated v1.1 is SO MUCH better. Wait for the OBJ version. Not sure of all the details but I want random objective spawns where possible with one or two constant fixed objectives, that way I hope to force play to all the buildings and keep the variation interesting. Scripting is always my biggest challenge. What I need is a guru to assist and I've got some good help from the folks at .map so hopefully I'll have an OBJ version in a week or less.

Obj!?!?!? Thats all I play!! Except FFA after a hard day at work, but get the snapping on that... my son is 6 now and getting into MoH:AA.. he lubs it as much as I do.. its a beautiful thing, before long he will be sitting here posting. biggrin:

Patience........who's got any?! I've come to realize that I may be able to map but I sure as heck can't script. Hung up on that and trying to get the stupid stuff to work. Got 5 objectives to program and trying hard to avoide the old hunt and bomb thing...want some switches and things. I think this would be more cool as a TOW than straight OBJ, but my talent and patience won't allow it, I'm afraid. Plan on seeing a 5 objective map for the Axis to complete. (Unless I find some serious help on scripting a TOW, eventhought the stock scripts don't look that difficult, implementation is hell.).

Version 1.1 is now posted.......although I'm worried about it being confused and no one getting it. It won't have anymore changes. I'm building the OBJECTIVE version off of it.


SO.................. get it at the address below, I guess. FPS about 20% better in the lower areas of v1.0, better lighting and some enhanced textures that were goofy before.

This should overwrite v1.0 IF you already have it. New .scr file too! When you unzip it, OVERWRITE the other one.
