I got kicked from a server. Give me your opinion.
 

I was just playing Malta on Suess' Soldiers I (the [RI] clan) on allies, using the Mosin Nagant. I was pretty much owning, something like 15-3 a couple minutes into the game. The teams were uneven, and I said to even them because there weren't enough people for me to shoot at. Sizemore (the admin) told me not to talk trash, and I apologized. He asked what gun I was using, and I told him. His response was something like "HAHAHA wallhack". I said that I hoped he wasn't serious, because I thought it was pretty funny that he thought I was hacking. Then he proceeded to tell me that I had lightmaps and fog off and farplane toggled on. I told him that my computer isn't the greatest. He told me I had an unfair advantage over other players. Then he kicked me.

After this, I went to look at my video and advanced options. The only thing I'm not using was volumetric smoke. All the lighting effects were enabled.

Which brings me to my questions:
What the hell was he talking about if all that stuff except volumetric smoke was enabled?
Why the hell did he kick me? We were all having an enjoyable match, and he goes and kicks me for a complete BS reason (I certainly can't be the only one with that config.)

I understand that he's the admin, so he can kick people, but he should have a good reason, which that certainly wasn't.

i've noticed lots of times server admins will kick people and make up excuses when they start to get their ass kicked in front of the men. what happens when you have such an immature community.

Public server admins = the guys in high school that got beat up all the time for lunch money. They just tend to show off their power alot, and in a game like MOH that's chalked with hacks, they have a reason to.

all this was accomplised with a mosin nagant, i was eventually kicked for "cheating". that rifle is a beast

im a server admin and ill be first to say an admin has the right to kick anyone they want. on the other hand its damn imature to kick a player just because hes a good player. my advice to you would be to find a server you like and become a regular. the regulars on my server enjoy being on the high ping imune list. i have my auto kick set at 200. if the pings spike up they dont get kicked. someone says their cheating. i know better. theres a lot to be said for being a regular on a server as oposed to just just dropping in to many servers where your not known.when i first started playing the game i saw a lot of things goin on in servers i didnt like. bad language ..respawn killing..unloading a full clip into a guy only to get killed with one shot from the same guy. i created my own server and made it the way i wanted to be. drop by some time. the server name and ip are listed by my location.

The admin is obviously an idiot, anyone knows that wallhacks don't make you aim better than your natural skill hake:

So you do turn off shadows and fog? I've got my own opinion here, and that is turning off fog and shadows is cheating in the sense that you can see further and clearer giving you an unfair advantage. No it isn't a wallhack which makes the admin look stupid in that sense, but he does have a good excuse to kick you.

You still can see futher and clearer with this "cheat" on. Lets say we play that train map in spearhead and The Bridge in MOHAA. If you could see me in that extremely(pitch black) corne of the train map, would you shoot me? Of course, even if I didn't make a sound. Is it unfair? Certainly. If I were in the northern house on the bridge and you could see me from the other side of the map and shot me in the head, isn't that unfair when I have shadown and fog enabled? If your computer is lacking the power to run MOHAA then perhaps you should upgrade your PC or don't play at all, and not justify that turning off both is not not cheating. I got a fairly crap computer, but I've managed to run it at a very high resolution and I don't need to turn off fog and shadows. Hell, why don't we all start playing on slow computers so we can turn off the sun glare, bushes, fag, shadows and trees too!

You didn't read my post well enough. If you did, you would've noticed that I did in fact have those options enabled, and the admin was BSing me.

Regardless, say my framerate was something really choppy and unplayable like 20 fps at most (which it isn't). You're telling me that I'd be cheating by turning things off to increase my framerate to playable levels? That's rediculous. The whole concept of using in-game configurations as "cheats" is just simply ludicrous.

I've been playing this game long enough to make out (and shoot) faint figures through the fog anyway.

i think the admin was onabout you messing with you newconfig.cfg file but i still think it's a bit on the zelous side to just boot you there are plent of progs out there now taht will show if you have done this and altering the in game options makes no difference to what the admin was accusing you of.

like joe said he was robobly bulled quite bad at school that day and want to lash out to show he was a "big" man.

just ignor it if you are uk based drop in on us where nice and friendly.

here it is , plain and simplew. if the admin was just taking a guess about you having that stuff disabled, then it was gay to kick you. but! if he used dumpuser and saw it disabled, then he had every right to do it. judging by your accurate and detailed account of exactly what he was accusing you of, then either you have a VERY good memory, or you DO have fog disabled. either way this is going nowhere as noone knows or will know the REAL truth or the whole story behind this except you and him.

Just because the command is included in the game doesn't mean its meant to be used. Hell I've read of some hackers finding commands to learn further than normal, doesn't mean its a good thing to do.

I understand the frustration with low FPS, but what I'm saying IT IS IMPOSSIBLE for people to pick out people from afar with fog on. example - I've been sniped sitting inside the northern house of The Bridge while the other person is near the other side of the map. That distance is truly impossible, you can even see a stencil of the persons image. Yet I question people who do it and their excuse is "oh I turn up the moniter brightness"... if fog is white turning it brighter is going to make the fog more blinding.

Also without character shadows on, its easy to pick out people hiding in bushes and in very dark shadows, even when they are sitting still.

my old video card didn't display nearly as much fog as my current one does. does that make me a cheater?

Theres just as many nooby assinine admins as there are cool experienced admins. Just gotta hunt down the good ones. Most of the people willing to post their ip and forums on a site like this are the good admins.

If the guy is gonna kick you for owning him with a POS rifle, LOL. I know exactly what you are saying. I have been kicked for "cheating" when all I did was run around and bash people with the Enfield. The gun is heavy. It does a lot of damage in a bash.

Deleto, he did do a dumpuser (and I do have a good memory). However, I have never directly touched my newconfig.cfg file. I just took a look at it now, and the only thing that I can directly notice about fog being off is for dday. Would that do it? What specific settings should I be looking at? What about farplane?

What the heck is farplane?

Anyway, as far as considering in-game settings as cheats, that's just plain weird. Seems like a lot of the community is getting a bit myopic with this.

You can't turn fog off on only 1 map to my knowledge. So if ya have it off, then its off, same thing as a nofog hack, and yes, that is an unfair advantage. as far as farplane goes, its also included in some hacks, helps with god knows what, but also (as far as I know) removes parts of the game just to give you an advantage. It's realy no different from a wallhack, well kinda anyways. seeing farther and clearer than anyone else makes you able to make shots noone else can make.

far plane is to do with draw distance i think, it alters the colours the walls drop out when the no fog bit is used this makes people stand out even more from a distanse as you glow slightly against the black back ground.

how do i know this cause i got the honasty config and turned everthing on to see what it did. and frankly it all a bit lame, thwere just no skill involved in killing people with this on you just sit back nioce and safe and watch the score go up for the 10 mins i had it on i was almost bored.

personally i play the game for fun and theres just no fun in using that stuff, as for the honasty config it's not all it's craked up to be there are server posts on this forum about people who have already bipassed it best thing id to get the dogmeat tags on your server which disable thse comands then you know no one is using them.

Oh dday fog should be 0 no idea what it does but when i set it to 1 i did not see any differance.

no there isn't the admin was just throwing what every he could at you cause he's a crap at the game but still wants to be the big man. howerver as i said if you have the honesty config it does.

stick with the defualt one and only use servers that have anti-cheat softwear running them you don't need the honesty config.

Thats a bona fide lie, there is no setting but on the q3 engine all non-set settings are variables... so just set that sh!t to farplane 60000 and you can see from the sand bags at the bridge to allies spawn. hake:

Before I upgraded my computer, I had to run things with low settings and certain effects turned off. That was so I could get 30 FPS that drop when in a close combat fire fight.

If you truly think this is advantageous, then you need to put the crack pipe down and beat the high. oOo:

Since upgrading, I can see the difference in how the visuals are, and players can be more difficult to see, but with smooth framerates, its easier to be accurate. So there are pros and cons to both cases.

Chalk it up to facist admins, Magnum. If you cant beat em, kick em. One reason I rarely play MOH:AA anymore.
