HAHAHA so much for the "geforce fx"
Some quotes worth noting, keep in mind this is the "top of the line" ultra version of the geforce fx.
http://www.hardocp.com/article.html?art=NDIxLDY= [quote:45e5e]As we’ve seen, the GeForce FX is no slouch in the 3D accelerator world, however it is not the "9700-killer" many have expected. It is, at best, mildly faster in most games, and the same or slightly worse in a few. Had it arrived when most of us thought it should, there is no doubt it would be much better received. [/quote:45e5e] http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,3 ... 379,00.asp [quote:45e5e]Our initial conclusion is that the main thing holding back GeForceFX is its 128-bit memory interface. This is an area where nVidia has been trumped by the other major graphics players, since Matrox, 3DLabs and ATI all have 256-bit memory interfaces in their current-generation parts. But in examining the baseline 1600x1200 test results where we ran with neither FSAA nor AF enabled, it's pretty clear that something else is holding GeForceFX back as well. On 3D GameGauge overall score, GeForceFX is actually a tick SLOWER than Radeon 9700 Pro. And on 3DMark 2001SE, GeForceFX is only 6% faster than Radeon 9700 Pro. [/quote:45e5e] So much for it being this big killer card that was gonna buttscrew everyhting out of its sight. AND as i said a few months back it has crap drivers due to it being a new architecture. All that waiting and nvidia produce an "ultra" version of a card that is MARGINALLY faster than the radeon 9700 which has been out months now, lol i can just see the nvidia supporters cringing right now, this was to be the "be all and end all" of graphics cards and what did they produce? Something that offers virtually NOTHING over the far cheaper 9700. The new radeon is due soon and its gonna further make the geforce fx look like the hyped pos it really is. Can we say nvidia dropped the ball? They were so confident that this was gonna be a killer card and its barely faster than a card thats been out 6 months or so. It has CRAP drivers as well so id love to see the nvidia people's theories on ati and their "crap drivers", ati's drivers have improved a ton with the new catalysts and nvidia are now gonna have to start from scratch so its gonna take some time before theyre as stable as they should be. Hate to say i told ya so but, i told ya so. I predicted this MONTHS back and ive been proved right, roll on r-350 to put another nail into nvidia's coffin. biggrin: |
Yep, its a bit of a disappointment. I am not quiet sure why you take such plaesure in it. Personally, I hope both card manufactures can make huge breakthrus. That way, the consumer would be the winner, not ATI or nvidia. I am a bit more curious about the r-350 now.

Gerards got a bit of a "Nvidia must die" streak in'em. I truly dont care whose name is on my card as long as it works well. |

Well, so much for that.. . is it an 8X AGP card?
|
i cant afford a 9700 pro cry:
maybe something LE or like a 7500... i want to try a radeon, my whole life my video cards were nvidias. |
How bout we just say, fuck the 9700 and FX and say hey lets wait for the better careds to come out. Fucking ATI is teh suck!! biggrin:

I 100% agree nvidea did screw us on the 3dfx take over. I hope they go bankrupt. |

Too long, didn't read.
D: Anyhow I agree when Green says that I could care less who makes the card, as long as I am satisfied with its performance, that is all that really matters. |
Hah, I've had 3 video cards. TnT2, Gf2, and now a Gf4. All were great. Except the TnT2 was getting raped in MoH.
|
i have a radeon 8500, nothin wrong with it
|
GO GF 3 TI500!!
|
i have went through a voodoo3 3000, Geforce2 mx400, Radeon 8500 64mb, and now im using the Radeon 9700 Pro... and i must say that the 9700 is freaking awsome biggrin:
when i got the voodoo3 card and was playing UT, i was like HOLY SHIT this is awsome man!!!, so long ago, and i still have the card too, i keep all my old stuff, and one day when i have enough im going to put the up on a wall with little placks to say what card they are, kind of like when hunters put the heads of the animals on the wall |
I'm going to go cry now.
|
I hear the 64 MB cards are much better then the 128 MB cards for your money.
|
If i didnt have the Compusa 1 year replacement plan i wouldnt even consider the FX. But using that plan, i can just return my GF4 4400, use its $300 price tag for an exchange for a new card.
Hence i'll only pay $100 for the Geforce FX, and thats the only reason id buy it. If i didnt have this deal it would be the Radeon 9700 Pro for sure. Bottom line: Nvidia has begun digging there own grave, and they better get out of it very soon before its to late! Later |
yea but.. ati is cannuk... biggrin:
and all i want is DX9 compatibility, and the fx costs as much as the 9700. and ill say it again, ati fucked up my last card i got from them, so im never gunna buy another product from them again. |
