MOH uses 2D Directional Audio sound drivers, but you can swap them out with others, including Dolby Digital 5.1. This method isn't approved by EA, but then again, what is?

Meh. .. you're gonna make me dig this up?!? sigh. . .

Bazooka_Joe 01-28-2003 09:50 PM

Extract these files to your MOH\snddrivers folder:

http://members.aol.com/_ht_a/nray7882//mohsound.zip

Open unnamedsoldier.cfg from your MOH\main\configs folder with Wordpad, and find the line that says:

[code:2cbc3]seta s_milesdriver "Miles Fast 2D Positional Audio"[/code:2cbc3]

change the "Miles Fast 2D Positional Audio" part to one of the following:

[code:2cbc3]"Aureal A3D interactive (TM)"
"Aureal A3D 2.0 (TM)"
"Creative Labs EAX (TM)"
"Creative Labs EAX 2 (TM)"
"DirectSound3D 7 + Software - Full HRTF"
"DirectSound3D 7 + Software - Light HRTF"
"DirectSound3D 7 + Software - Pan and Volume"
"DirectSound3D Hardware Support"
"DirectSound3D Software Support"
"Dolby Surround"[/code:2cbc3]

Depending on your sound card, drivers, and hardware acceleration, results vary. Whew. . .

Old Reliable 01-28-2003 09:51 PM

how about for 6.1? biggrin:

intrestedviewer 01-28-2003 10:35 PM

Do you know what i should use if i have a "Sound blaster live! platinum"?
It has hardware acceleration EAX so u think Creative Labs EAX (TM) will work for it? Whats EAX 2?

[quote="Old Reliable":27371]how about for 6.1? biggrin:[/quote:27371]

Nope, I don't think there's a game to date that supports 6.1 digital, at least that I've played.

Expirament man, it's different for whatever speaker/sound card combo you got. Mine's best with the Dolby Surround, because I have Dolby 5.1 surround speakers. the EAX2 is sopposevly experimental drivers, probably EAX AdvancedHD before it was called that.

Rasbey 01-30-2003 07:17 AM

Pardon me, but "EAX2" is EAX 2.0. :) It's a newer and more enhanced version of EAX 1.0. Both EAX 1.0 and 2.0 are supported by newer Live! series SB sound cards, but also many alternative sound chipsets by Cirrus Logic and C-Media. Check the website of your manufacturer for the tech specs and check what standards your sound card supports. Atleast all current sound cards by Hercules, Terratec, Trust, Turtle Beach and Philips have EAX (1.0, 2.0), A3D (1.0, 2.0) and DirectSound 3D hardware support.

What he said. Still, I remember reading that the EAX2 drivers in this .ZIP file were experimental when they released. That's at least what I read with this file pack.

Rasbey 01-30-2003 11:58 AM

I don't say that those drivers wouldn't be test drivers. I assume that's true. I once tried those drivers (the ones for EAX 2.0) and they messed up MoH:AA, so I had to install the game again.

Audigy 2 has issues with MOH. I think Strik0r or someone else knows how to fix it.

Discobiscuit 02-05-2003 03:19 AM

Von Paulus 02-05-2003 05:58 AM

I have a TV.

I have a XBOX.

I don't have any extra speakers, just the 2 on my TV.

Some DVD's have multiple speaker settings, which one is best ?

oOo:

NM156 02-05-2003 10:01 AM

You might want to try these drivers, which are supported for MOH. I've only tried these on the SBLive! card, but will test them with the Audigy2 sometime today.

Note: You will take a performance hit, so make sure you have a high-end CPU. These do sound awesome though... worth a try! ed:

Diesel Power 3D
