Invalid CD Key?
 

Everytime i try and Join a server on gamespy i get kicked out and it says
SERVER REJECTED CONNECTION
INVALID CD KEY

What does this mean...?
I was having no problems the other day it just happened to me today. I don't know what to do to fix this eek:

My guess... It means EALA is currently working on Spearhead and the next patch is immanent..

It does it regardless of which browser you join with, and it seems to vary from server to server whether you can join or not. Since it varies I don't think it is an actual CD key authentication setup, I wonder if it isn't just EA messing with the master servers in preparation for the new patch and this error popping up incorrectly...

who knows, but if they think adding cd key verification will make people buy this POS they've got their heads farther up their asses than i thought

If it's a legit copy, contact EA support for a new serial. I need to do this for BF1942 since mine somehow crapped out on me, too. cry:

Well for a start a start the copy is not legit at ALL how i know that, its because my friend had the same problem with the cd key issue and he had a fake basicly on ever server he would go to it would say that. All that means is that the FAKE cd key that u have someone else has it and is useing the game at the time.

Not nesscessarily. Like I said, I have a legit BF1942, and when I goto play it says INVALID CD KEY, which means someone probably generated mine.

me and my dad use the same cd-key... i cant imagine life without it.

When UT2k3 came out, it didnt require the key. For their first patch epic started requiring cd validation. Man you should have heard all the guys crying about how epic was only hurting themselves, and how they would never buy an epic game again, yada, yada, yada....Of course this was coming frmthe guys that hadnt given epci any money to begin with. It was rather humorous. Personally, I prefer games that dont require validation, but occastionally, I will buy one that has it, if it is worthwhile. SH does not fall into that category (but I did buy it).

I do own the actual game.. and i have been playing Spearhead since it came out.... this just started happening to me the other day.. it seems like other people who bought the game got screwed over as well...
I have been able to get into a couple servers but then it comes back to the Invalid Cd key... i dont know what to do....

So much for buying the game to fix the problem.. lol

omg this just happened to me tonight too. i have a pirated (sweet heh) version of sh and it has worked fine...up until this new : Invalid Cd Key bugger just popped up tonight. arggggg cry: what shall we do strikor? what shall we do?

You care? I just made another map fix for Berlin TOW.. It determines which team has the most objectives at the end of the timelimit. So instead of the round resulting in a draw everytime when all the objective are obtained including the bombs.. Now the team with the most objectives wins.

But I have no fucking clue if it works or not because.. Although I can upload files, reboot, switch to AlliedAssault, use rcon...I can't fucking connect to me server.. lol

I wont do anything about it until I see a patch. This is almost identical to what happened with AlliedAssault around the time when we all still thought v1.2 might be available soon.

omg same problem today...cant get on to any objective servers...including my OWN. we have a match tommorrow and monday. this is FUCKING BULLSHIT. i cant get on my own server. other ppl in my squad are having the same problem...they cant connect to obj games either. i am really really irritated right now.

Go out and get uncheap and buy the damn thing.

As for EA, I sent them my DXDIAG.EXE report, my original serial, and my registration info, and they sent me a new serial for BF1942. Seems mine got used by someone over the net, and EA locked it.

I just went out and bought sh and it still says bad key. I completely reinstalled it too...

^ that was from a clanmate of mine from our forums. i still dont think this problem has to do with having a cracked version. 3 other ppl in my squad have the RETAIL version and they have the invalid cd key problem too.

p.s. battlefield 1942 was the last ea product i am going to buy

The same invalid cd key problem happens to me and ive reinstalled spearhead 4x, with a differnet cd key each time.

Anyone check Zonealarm stats to see if mohaa.exe is calling out to a ea site? i got sent info on that...

but its a problem, and im assuming like the rest of us that its EA testing a CD key validation server. Which will hopefully mean we can ban by CD-Key or an ID system similar to the Half-Life Won-ID system...

doubtfull EA would do anything beyond checking for legit CD keys.... hpoing for a banning system like CS has is a bit of a stretch.

someone needs to test this against a firewall and whether client is sending anything out other than to server. if it was the server running these lookups youd presume the server config would need updating for it and ppl would already know whats going on.

I think, if you dont have it legit, then shut the hell up. You;ve had it free for this long, if you like it go buy it!

Using a packet sniffer it shows there is a packet sent to your comp, from the server you're trying to join with a "getKey" command in it, then another packet is sent back with the Invalid Key text. It doesn't look like it gets sent to a EA server of anykind, just to the game server. Don't see how a true authentication setup wouldn't run something by a EA master server. Of course the game server could then bounce something over EAs way I guess. With all the problems with legit owners, it wouldn't suprise me if a "hacked server patch" comes out soon enough to skip the check, and if the legit problems keep up most every server will be running it...

EA already lose support for bad netcode/FPS, now they are going to lose the 90% of people who actually put up with the game, lol.

If you guys want a possible solution, go to PMOH http://www.forumplanet.com/planetmedalofhonor and look in the SpearHead Technical problems section (I'm too lazy to retype it)

Unless I'm blind I don't see anything there about it, at least none of the thread titles mention it. If it's buried in some post you'll have to give us a link or something...

Also, keep in mind that if go out an buy a "legit" copy, check the seal. People have been known to go to the store and open the box to aquire a valid cd key. If you don't believe me, the next time you are at Walmart, Target or some other store, look at games like MOHAA or some other popular game. Chances are some of them have been opened.

There's no conclusive fix there anyway.

Uninstall the game, mess with the registry, reinstall game and then it might work....

mmmmm how about EA just pulls their finger out and does the job they should have done in the first place!

i have thought and continue to think...that since this problem started it has nothing to do with what version you have ...cracked or retail..its affecting both equally. i have done the registry sweep and all the uninstall/reinstall stuff and still get this prob....i am officially clueless. im still not gonna go buy it, cuz ill still get the same problem...i know it. im gonna wait this one out a few more days. i think a hack for it will be out soon.

okey dokey....i havent been able to get into my clans server since friday night. however, i can get into about 70 percent of all the servers...i can get into allaboutnothin.net, i can get into BaH, i can get into a bunch of well known servers. for some reason i cant get into my server -=|MwD|=- Clan Server Have Fun which runs the hunt v2 and the bridge. i find that i cant get into most obj sh servers....i am still able to get into a ton of others...this makes no sense. why does it give me an ivalid cd key for some servers, but not the others? apparently many others with the retail store bought version are having this problem too. check it out, its most intriguing
