WARNING! LOP.COM

Apparently I somehow downloaded this software (have no fucking idea how) which is from a site called Lop.com

People beware of this site, it uses software to advertise somethings I dont give a shit about with a sort of spyware but is destructive as a virus. It has an "unistall program" which dosent work and is a complete joke. Its not even a proper unistall software, you have to fill out this quiz in order to unistall it. WTF?!

Anyways I found this site:

http://www.smithpaul.com/docs/articles/lop/

that may help. I havent tried it out yet but I'm just posting this to warn you guys.

Just do a google search for "LOP remove" or something along those lines.

Theres this new shit called XUPITER that is basically the same thing, installs itself as your homepage without prompting, and changes your tool bar etc. All shit I feel should be illegal. Anywho just do a search on LOP AD Remove or something and it should give u some tips.

Delete the program folder, reboot, use a registry cleaner from http://www.jv16.org

look in your program files for a folder named LOP. first see if you can delete it (probably wont) then if the contents wont delete, rename the LOP folder to something like "shit" then your browser shouldnt load it biggrin:
i had the same problem with a gay ass program called XUPITER, and TEFS...their just a bunch of shitty search engines with pop ups mad:

i had something like that once, when i ran adaware i had 250 spyware files. quite annoying.

magnesium12 01-31-2003 01:50 PM

see if http://www.doxdesk.com can offer any kind of help. the page runs a script that detects many forms of "parasites" (ie spyware-adware) and tells you how to uninstall them. it doesnt detect everything but it does detect alot of things. i go there once in a while to make sure im parasite free, and the site has helped me get rid of a few parasites in the past... damn porn sites.

i dont know how i got it installed either.
everytime a page wont load, instead of going to the error page not found please refresh, thing, it jumps to lop.com and bugs the crap out of me.
i am searching google for a removal now...

SS-NaPPo 01-31-2003 02:01 PM

Hmm, thats just plain stupid , i say. Why the heck they need to make those kind of programs. oOo:

01-31-2003 09:45 PM

I found a miracle worker. Its a program called "tracks eraser".

Try searching in google for it.

redhawk_six 01-31-2003 09:50 PM

To prevent stuff like this from happening (programs accessing the net without you knowing, unknown "goast" downloads, etc) you should download and install the firewall program, Zone Alarm.

To get Zone Alarm, goto:

http://www.zonelabs.com

01-31-2003 09:51 PM

I use norton because for some fucking reason zonealarm wont work on my computer anymore.

redhawk_six 01-31-2003 09:54 PM

Do you have the latest version of Zone Alarm, I think a new version came out just a short while ago, maybe try that.

Norton is pretty good, but I only use Norton for anti-virus, and I've had a few problems with it in the past.

01-31-2003 10:21 PM

I think I did use the lastest version. I think the only way of making it work again is reformating my computer and I would rather go to hell than reformat my hardrive.

redhawk_six 01-31-2003 10:29 PM

Yeah, I know what you mean.

Well, I have no idea why it wouldn't be working. Maybe email the company that makes it and tell them about the problem. eek:
