Since EA isn't doing a Pacific theater now read this!

OKay this isn't a grand expansion idea just more MP maps. Did anyone beside me get those Japanese skins which were published almost a year ago? I've never seen anyone use them and probably just as well Japs in Europe are kind of out of place (except for the fighting 442 in Italy, rent the movie "Go for Broke"). Anyway I was thinking of making some pacific theater MP maps using the palm trees from the North Africa maps and building some Island structures. Maybe even a battle for Manila. Anyway just like the Japs out of place in Europe the Germans would be out of place in the SE Asia. I could package those Jap skins with the map/s and people could use them for authenticity.

YOU SP mappers should think about converting those Jap skins for use in SP and make some Pacific theater SP maps. Think about it.

guarnere 02-02-2003 09:59 AM

if someone does this....ill make the jap skins...cos the ones made...are old biggrin:

If you guys do that you should bundle the maps and skins together in one zip. That sounds like a great idea. Start making it ^_^

Itamar 02-02-2003 11:22 AM

I realy think we need to arrange a team who can make

Well , I was wandering and thinking of something that could be very good
What would you all say about programming a server that will allow the single player to run with the multiplayer feature...
let's say me , guarnere , brutal and a few others on a server..?
We enter the server and start playing the SP of either MOHAAS or MOHAA
Depends on the server ..
If we can achieve something like this that we all can play together in multiplayer , but actually making the advance in the single player campaign..
I think that'll be great !!!! great thing guys...:-)
btw - I'll soon have a new M-1 Skin , based on a real photo prespective..

Stay tuned..

MPowell1944 02-02-2003 05:12 PM

this sounds interesting. i would be willing to give a hand with the maps.

oh and guarnere, those jap skins might be old, but they are rockin'. biggrin:

Wilko 02-02-2003 07:58 PM

I could help out with some allied skins.

Maplegyver 02-02-2003 08:26 PM

if you want ideas for the maps and jap skins watch WINDTALKERS or THE THIN RED LINE biggrin:

reimer21 02-05-2003 06:35 PM

I think obersturmfuhrer is working on a pacific theatre mod and is using those jap skins.

HeadUp 02-05-2003 06:45 PM

isnt it possible to use the .tga files for the jap skins from BF1942 and just script em into AA and SH, i thought they were decent...
Also, i think making a beach invasion level for like Iwo Jima or Guadalcanal would be hot...

Balr14 02-06-2003 11:13 PM

I use those Japanese skins on Pacific Atoll map.

HeadUp 02-07-2003 12:18 PM

uhm, oh...lol

There were many battles fought on atolls in WW2... the Marshall Islands and Tarawa are just a couple that come to mind.

HeadUp 02-08-2003 09:19 AM

oh

Balr14 02-11-2003 11:38 PM

I can tell that really picqued your interest. biggrin:

HeadUp 02-12-2003 10:44 AM

nah bro.
i am barely able top play bf1942 b/c it doesnt work on my comp and i have to play it on the comp @ mym oms house. i love the game, but i think its kind of corney and unrealistic. I think that if moh had a pacific theatre of ops it would be absolutely amazing. Im talkin official (or @ least really well done) SP maps, in addition to MP maps...
i just saw some new japanese skins @ mohfiles.com that looked phat. The only thing is- the only outdoor textures you can use for pacific mods are the ones from the Afrika maps. I think that if EA wasnt so fuckin lazy with thier MoH community support, it would be a lot easier to mod something like a pacific mod...

Balr14 02-13-2003 07:15 PM

Pacific Atoll uses custom textures for everything but sand and grass. The palm trees are incredible and you snipers can climb them.

MPowell1944 02-13-2003 07:19 PM

Yeah I saw those Palms up close n' personal. Great work on those masked textures. biggrin:

Balr14 02-13-2003 07:24 PM

Thanks, MP. You should see it with all the custom bushes, grass clumps. and other foliage. Even has vines and big broadleaf plants. Nothing culls out either. And it still runs over 60fps.

MPowell1944 02-13-2003 07:26 PM

Excellent work. I think I downloaded an early version of the map. Any recent updates that I need to grab?

Balr14 02-13-2003 07:27 PM

Once I get oall the textures working and looking how I want, I'll make the tress and plants available for anyone else to use for a Pacific mod. There's about 100 of them all together. Way to many to use on a little island.

MPowell1944 02-13-2003 07:29 PM

That is true. The island itself was quite small. But the concept is one worth sticking with. Especially with the new textures coming into play. I look forward to any updates. Will you post the news on TMT when you do release the next version?

Balr14 02-13-2003 07:29 PM

Hope to have a new version by Monday. Terrain is getting sculpted to get rid of the sharp angles and add some more features.

MPowell1944 02-13-2003 07:31 PM

Sounds good. I'll be looking forward to the update. Thankyou sir.

Balr14 02-13-2003 07:32 PM

Also have textures for the Japanese landing craft. What you saw is a "proof of concept" map. Everything works the way I wanted and it's interesting to play, so it's time to get serious. The TMT server always has the latest version.

Balr14 02-13-2003 07:37 PM

Sorry, I don't usually pimp my maps, but I wanted people to know the War in the Pacific has not been forgotten and I'm real good at making those big outdoor views, so the Pacific maps I do are going to be damn realistic.

guarnere 02-13-2003 08:19 PM

Balr14....PM me, ive got a few questions...

pixel pusher 208 02-14-2003 10:33 AM

I am in!!!

Hello everyone.

If you need anything, I will contribute. I have already made a skin pack for the 1st Marine Corp who fought on Guadalcanal. You can see it here:

http://www.modtheater.com/forum/showthr ... eadid=5023

In addition, I have submitted one of the skins in the pack to PMOH and Mod Theater so it should be available shortly. (Sort of like a teaser) ;P

I have been planning on making a Pacific Theater mod myself. Right now, I am compiling the research and building the website for it. Hopefully, I plan to have something up on PMOH by months end.

If anything, it would be great experience.

Balr14 02-14-2003 06:37 PM

Pixel Pusher, see my post on TMT under mapping. I'm going to create a whole set of textures and prefab trees, bushes and grasses for anyone to make Pacific maps. Anyone that has something to contribute (skins, textures, prefabs) etc.) is welcome. I figure I'll put everything into a Pacific PK3 of about 50 meg, for everyone to use. I got a couple other mappers who will contribute maps, and a couple guys working on a flamethrower.

It's not a formal TC or anything like that. Just gathering the pieces together for people to use as a basis for Pacific maps.

pixel pusher 208 02-14-2003 08:25 PM

Hey that is awesome. I know I will definately be using that.

I am not planning on organizing a full dedicated mod either. It is more like a part time thing. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Here's a sample of the first map with some of the custom textures:
