For those who took the ASVAB (military "entrance"
 

Seems there is a disparity in popular opinion regarding this test.

Well it was easy, but was it a breeze? no it was certainly not.

Thats the very watered down version of it, they put that shit easy version on there so u will go and take it so they can try and recruit you. It was easy but it was a piece of fucking cake

Same here.

I took it earlier this year it was soo freaking easy it wasnt funny.there were only like 2 questions I didnt know. Most of my class took it for the 2 periods we missed of the day biggrin:

WEll knowing that I suck at math and science, and know crap about cars, I guess it wont be that easy. The english part was a breeze.

I took a more complicated test to become a security guard at the canadian
parliament and scored first place out of 215 participants. ASVAB (or as I like
to pronounce it, ASSHAT) can suck my cock.

Well i really blow at math, so that part ate me alive lol, i did good on the engineer part, got 100 on that biggrin:

The only thing thats stressful about that test is the timed parts. Thats about it. I can see getting the mechinal stuff wrong, but if you are a Senior, chances are you've been introduced to most if not ALL of the subject matter covered.

And it's not like you need this HIGH score to even get INTO the military.

I mean for fucks sake, some guys had POINT WAIVERS in my platoon. POINT WAIVERS - which basically nudge a point in the positive direction so that you can BARELY qualify.

Mostly common sense. If you attended high school, graduated high school, or got your GED, you should of done fine.

I forgot what I got, but it was over 100. I think the highest you can get is like 130. Man this was years ago, heh

The hardest part was probably mechanics. They show you parts of a car, and you have to name them, multiple choice. There was only a few tho.

1. Where is the steering wheel:

A) In the car

B) On top of the car

C) Under the car

D) All of the above.

The watered down test was ok I guess...the maths section ate me alive.

Thats the thing. Its NOT watered down. That is the test. That's about as hard as it gets.

Other guys here were saying that the test was much harder then those questions. Oh well, all you have to learn to do is use big toys to kill ppl. That is what the army is for right?

Mr. Special Ed, you say some guys in your platoon got point wavers. Out of curiosity, I have a few questions:

What's your MOS?

Are you NG, Reserve or Active?

Where are you stationed?

One more bit for those wondering about the ASVAB. It's not really a test to determine whether you get INTO the military. It's more of a test to determine WHAT you are eligible to do in the military. For example, the MOS 11B (Basic Infantry), is open to everyone, whereas the MOS 19D (Cavalry Scout), requires a higher score.

It was intelligence, but fuck if I can remember what the official but I know the test for it was fucking difficult and I did not pass it the first time, and barely did second time around. And this wasnt even IN the school.

I believe you are confusing things. I took BOTH the ASVAB and another test whos name escapes me. One was required to get in. I dont know ONE PERSON who did not take the ASVAB.

no not confusing anything. Of course they're required, but the DoD uses your ASVAB score to determine what you're eligible for. In other words, you can fail miserably and still get in, hence the point waivers mentioned.

Parts like mechanical and eletrical parts were a fucking breeze, now that was commen sense, but that part with math and science was hard, and I don't care how smart you are, you're not going to pop the answer in your head in less then 10 sec.

Ok Mr. Joe, The mechanics part i fucking aced, (which is why i think they pushed to get me in a fucking LAV) the math is definatly not easy, A. because im not smart in math and B. Math is homosecsual like innoxx biggrin:

Trying figuring out 36 math questions in 30 minutes. It can be done, but with extreme speed and precsion, and I'm sorry, I HATE MATH.

Now Milla, I don't believe there were questions like "3+9", were there?? I couldn't remember answering easy ass questions like those.
