All this for 10 bucks!
I made a stop by the Army-Navy surplus store to see if I could find a 101st Airborne patch or sticker, instead a dud grenade and .50 caliber ammo box caught my eye! They were cheap and good condition. I also saw a .30 caliber box and other neat stuff!

You sure it's a dud? Hit it with a hammer to check...
Good bargains though. |
It's a dud cause the bottoms sawed off :/ it's pretty cool to have though.

Put it on your list. Santa might be nice next year biggrin: |
Gotta love Army-Navy surplus.

Yeah, the ones with blue handles are training duds. The surplus shops out here have boxes and boxes of those things. |

Great for storage, though. You can use it for so many things: storage, cooking food, or cleaning. In basic, we filled them with hot water, laundry detergant, and put our LBE belts in there to get the dirt out for turn-in. Worked like a charm. |
U should of bought more duds that would be cool. I mean an ammo box with out ammo suxs
|
i have one of those dud grenades, and also i have a practice grenade that i think was from world war two. its in the general shap of a grenade, except its all rock, no spring or pin. i also have a 1943 .50 shell casing and a sweet pair of field glasses (bad condition thought).

Then, when they get hit, the will smell like a nice summer breeze instead of a stinking rotting corpse, it's good for morale and squeamish bystanders. cool: |
lol slinky

For the ammo tin:
Get a bunch of spent .50 cal casings, and an ammo belt. |
Why didn't you buy something cool?
|
Screw its purpose, turn it into a lunch box! evil:
|
AHHH! Thats awesome Intrested! I wish I bought my lunch to school, but now I am! Thats frickin cool mang! it's a little big, but I might buy a .30 caliber one.
|
Just pack a big lunch to fill it with.
|
I have the same 5.56 ammo can. Holds 2000 paintballs perfectly. I love Army surplus stores, my brother says im like a kid in a candy store there. I look at everything and think about buying it as well. Sadly when i went looking i couldnt find an ammo can larger than the 5.56 800 rounder. I really wanted a .50.
Though it will be pretty funny to show up on a field with my m4 looking paintball gun and a 5.56 ammo can decked out in full cammo. lol evil: |
i have a 200 round 7.62 box, although all it's got in it is .45 and m16 clips
i do like that lunchbox idea, that would have really freaked the teachers out at my schools biggrin: |

You guys scare me.
I'm going to my local military surplus today, but to buy stuff that I need. I'm going off w/ the weekend warriors for 3 days so I need gore-tex socks, compass, gloves etc. Last weekend I had to sleep in the snow eek: |
Nice idea about the lunch box.
At my school all the army cadet guys used to bring in their webbing, 1958 packs lol. It was a strange sight to see all these school kids running round in uniform w/ army webbing. But we did start a new fashion with it and soon everyone wanted some. |

Hahahaha nice one biggrin: biggrin:

I use the ammo boxes for hunting equipment. They make great dry boxes for in the boat. They will hold a couple of boxes of shells, binoculars, gloves, snacks, etc.
