bf1942 1.3

http://www.ea.com/eagames/official/batt ... 2/home.jsp What do you think, they added new sounds and put in new weapons models. The mounted machine guns now have a canister of ammo biggrin: I think it makes it lag more though cry: What do you guys think?

Dj RaNnY kAn 02-03-2003 07:01 PM

not sure guess im guna have to try i out but some othe inpovemnts sounded good

Sergeant_Scrotum 02-03-2003 07:12 PM

if it makes it lag more i deffanitly cant download it!

Slinky2397 02-03-2003 07:13 PM

I uninstalled the game, too many problems and such, but I read through the changes.

AA-Damage decreased by 50% to airplanes? What the hell? You're kidding me?
So they supposedly finally fixed the damn SB Live! problem. That pissed me off. I had to run it in 2 speakers, 4, 5.1, or surround when I shot my gun, MAJOR static, horrible.

I'm sure it still lags like hell anyway, sad when I have to run a game in 640x480 at medium settings with a Gf4, 1.7GHz, and 512 ram just ot get a decent steady framerate online. hake:

Dj RaNnY kAn 02-03-2003 07:16 PM

yea i got a gf4 also and i get like 5 to 20 fps it is so bad

intrestedviewer 02-03-2003 07:20 PM

no i think its just laging on my puter cause i have it set on max and my system aint the best, The updates did supposedly make models better and stuff so i guess that means more graphics=less performance. The multiplayer lag seems all but gone actually. I turned down the graphics and was amazed everything seemed to run smooth. I like the new patch. The onlything that is ghey is the new rifle sound, it sounds like an air gun now hake:

Dj RaNnY kAn 02-03-2003 07:24 PM

cool im gunna have to d/l it

Slinky2397 02-03-2003 07:25 PM

The rifle sounded bad before anyway. The reason why it's a No4 bolt-action really slaps me in the face.

Just dled it a lil while ago and installed it but it wont work for a day or 2 its weird any patch i dl soesn't work for a couple of days...lol

02-03-2003 08:24 PM

I have Geforce4 4600 512 megs of ram, and a 1.4 amd.

ZERO lag.

It's NOT the game despite what your peers would like to tell you.

Milla 02-03-2003 09:07 PM

Ok i got 512 DDR RAM, GF3TI500 and a 2200 athlon and i still get chuggy eek:

It's because not alot of servers are updated yet, that's all. Can anyone confirm that Desert Combat works with this patch?

He's right. As I've explained numerous times, Service Pack 1 for WinXP killed this game. Microsoft finally released a hotfix for SP1 to fix this error, but it looks like it's done its damage already. Anyways, it does work well on my machine:

P4 2ghrz
512MB PC-800 RDRAM
GeForce Ti4600
WinXP Pro, SP1

It works.

Not well.

Crap. Well some cool things about this patch are:

Enhanced netcode & optimization, for lower lag and faster frames.
Sniper & Enginners rifle reloads faster
New weapon sounds
new server commands, like forgive/punish a TKer
tri-linear filtering can now be disabled (for people with slower machines, this is good news)
Fixed memory leaks.

Sergeant_Scrotum 02-03-2003 10:19 PM

Now i just have to wait for a no CD to come out becaus emy CD dosent work :(

Pyro 02-03-2003 10:32 PM

what a waste of a game...patches galore, can't they ever get this hunk of shit right?

Bazooka_Joe 02-03-2003 10:44 PM

Well, I just tested the patch out, and man Im impressed. Few things that still bother me:

1) Repairs on docks/hangars are still too high, as tanks can still camp @ them.

2) Some of the sounds are good (Rifle, BAR), but others (MG-42, 50-Cal) should of stayed the same.

3) Now there's a damn sound glitch, you will randomally hear a sound echo/repeat, or a scratch-like sound will play during the game!

Otherwise, the game is about 25% faster for me, even on an EA server with 120 ping! I say this patch was a good improvment, but the above three should be fixed.

Bazooka_Joe 02-03-2003 11:09 PM

Dammit, Desert Combat works like crap with this patch . .back to the drawing board for them.

From what Im reading you have to use hardware acceleration for your sound card, and whatever khz it is at (default is 11 or 22) double it.

intrestedviewer 02-03-2003 11:16 PM

I see, this new patch gave me lag because it reset by refresh rate! Had to go back n fix. Ok now the improvement is very clear.

Jimmy Paterson 02-03-2003 11:35 PM

OMG it is so gay the single shot rifles for my when i shoot they sounds like a tank it pisses me off cause thats my fav class

Jimmy Paterson 02-03-2003 11:36 PM

and the chat box is gay it takes up to much space is there a way to change it? and my knife sounds louder than my machine gun on my tank and half track

intrestedviewer 02-03-2003 11:52 PM

er, set hardware acceleration on in the audio optiones page 2?

Slinky2397 02-03-2003 11:58 PM

I used to try and play this game, then as the days went on, it got worse. Oh yay, it's real fun charging forward with 3 teammates over a hill on Omaha, until you get wallopped by a tank...*Sigh* Guess I'm not too impressed with "arcade" online FPS's.

Bazooka_Joe 02-04-2003 12:12 AM

Yes did you read the readme that came with it?!?! No. . .

intrestedviewer 02-04-2003 12:45 AM

A lot of modificationes in this patch remind me of the old saying, "if it aint broke, don't fix it!" hake:

BallisticWookie 02-04-2003 01:45 AM

No Client side prediction ?? Count me out. I bought BF1942, but until the release a patch with Client side prediction instead of that terrible shitty mess of a server side prediction, I'm not gonna bother playing it online. I just play the bots and Desert Combat SP.

We will miss you, and your unfounded complaints.

Really.

BallisticWookie 02-04-2003 02:17 AM

Unfounded ? Pfffft.

Don't feel like reinstalling it. Plus, I need the space for Unreal 2 later today...
