I have been gaming since the early days of Quake 1. I have to admit that the last few years have pretty much sucked in terms of new FPS shooters... The last time any game had me as pumped up as MOHAA was when the leaked Half Life demo was released..
Half Life raised the bar to a level that was way beyond anything before it. I think the torch has FINALLY been passed to MOHAA, a game that is comparable to the excitement that HL brought to the table.. This game owns Q3, UT, SOF, RTCW and is on par with the initial addictiveness of CS during the first few betas!! Anyone agree with me??

To be frank, MoH:AA is another right step into FPS gaming, but I doubt it will be something absolutely phenominal. There will be games and what not that will be better the MoH:AA, unfortunate as it may seem. But, still, it will hopefully be the best thing I played since Half-Life. (I prefer Op-For over HL, though. Just can't get enuff of that bootcamp.)

Sacha 01-05-2002 08:26 AM

id say CS is still the best game out there, with skins and new maps the game evolves into a new game every day for me and i cant eevr stop playin it ive had it for over a year and i still play it like i got it yesterday

I used to play CS, stopped about 3 months ago. Doubt I will ever play it again, cheaters have f*cked it up. Used to be good at it too, no point playing when you get shot through walls and have your head blown off by people running around with AWPs.

Bumrush 01-05-2002 08:35 AM

I played CS the day it came out. The first five or six betas were incredible untill the game got too popular and people started bitching and cheating.. I stopped playing CS as soon as version 1.0 was released, the realistic player speeds which encouraged teamplay were destroyed, and as soon as the game sped up it became a run and gun game with limited teamwork.. I fear the same thing will happen to MOHAA, all of the CS children will move over to this game and I hope the developers never cave in by implementing new features (such as bunny hopping) to "improve" player movement or weapon accuracy.. It seems excellent the way it is now.

I don't see why people think that MOHAA running is slow, seems just about right to me.

Bumrush 01-05-2002 08:43 AM

Probably because you can appreciate what lowering player speed does. Most people who only play DM want to run as fast as possible around the map and don't comprehend why in MOH players run under 30MPH.. LOL

8827Echo 01-05-2002 08:48 AM

I never liked cs for all it's dm crap, just cuz they got realistic guns and at least a slight indication of teamplay. So I moved onto DoD, played that ever since it came out. And if this has good multiplay, might change from DoD to this http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/smile.gif

3/504th-Cpt.Knight 01-05-2002 08:51 AM

I too stopped playing CS a while ago, about 6 monthes ago. Too much whining, the maps got old, too few GOOD new maps, and the voice communication got kind of annoying after a while. DOD on the other hand is still at the top of my list, soon to be second because of MOH:AA. I love this game BUT, I also dont like the fact that its gonna force me to upgrade. On low settings I get an average of 20 fps. http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/frown.gif

It won't stop me from playing DOD though. They have the mg42s coming in beta 2 and they got them right! Now if only I could import some of the MOH sound into DOD. Hmmmm......Does anyone know how I could do that?

Yes, I do.

And don't bother unless you know how to alter sound files. (Which I don't).

MOH:AA would have had the potential to last longer than it will, if it had a better engine. Q3's engine is a bit dated to what today's video cards and systems can do.

The game will have a following until someone does something with a better engine - such as "After The Wall" with Torque.

I dont think that graphics are the determining factor.. Look at HL, a game based off the Quake 1 engine!
I think what makes games last long is gameplay.. Judging by the growth of this community compared to other games (especially since it has not even been released yet) I think MOH has the potential to explode.. There have been tons of games with superior graphics compared to HL that died out because the gameplay was not up to par...

there are dm atributies for a weapon and atributes for all other game modes.

True, you make a good point.

I just wish they'd work on the clipping issues, they are really annoying.

Saintholgi 01-05-2002 10:58 AM

If there will be a good map editor then it will be as good as HL. because HL is so good because of the mods like DOD and CS and so on. so If MOHAA gets a good map editor then people can create their own mods ( like cs ) .. it will rock :-D :-D

Tyler Durden 01-06-2002 12:11 AM

I would have to say MOH is the best game since HL. Here are my list of games...

R6, HL, DF2, Q2... The most played game out of all of thoes is HL. And the reason I dont have 100 more is because hl has givin me everything i needed http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/biggrin.gif So moh will be my first game in a LONG time ! and I cant wait.

8827Echo 01-06-2002 12:34 AM

Quake 1 engine? Thought it was Quake 2? And it did have pretty neat graphics for it's time, remember.

Tyler Durden 01-06-2002 12:38 AM

Half-Life did infact have a Quake2 engine with some added stuff to make it look better. Thats why all the commands are the same in both Quake and half-Life.. Well most ....

Tyler Durden 01-06-2002 02:57 AM

You're kidding me right ? If you aren't, then you dont know shit about cheating....

I went undercover for a long time to get the dirt on cheaters, and cheat makers.. And know what I found out ? PunkBuster doesnt DO SHIT. And Valve knows this.. And ya know what ? They are smart.

I was talking to a guy who makes hacks to hack punkbuster, and he said that what punkbuster does is take a screenshot of you playing every so often. Thats why punkbuster lags servers. Now if punkbuster takes a pic at u when u are cheating, it sees that u are cheating, and it does away with you. What this guy did was made it so when punk buster took the screen shot, all your cheats turned off for a second. So fast you didnt even know they turned off. ANd thats that. Trust me, I would go in with groups of cheaters and cheat on punkbuster servers and when the admin would catch on one of the guys who was with us would crash the server.

And get this, just before I left all that hl cheating shit, they were working on a way to take ever servers. Like you could over power the admin basicly. At first I was working on making an anticheat, but after talking with the cheat makers, i stoped because 1. No mods cared enough, I couldnt believe that they didnt care if I made an anti-cheat that would stop cheaters dead in their tracks. 2. Cheats were being upgraded everyweek, and I didnt want to come out with this anticheat and have it be hacked (which chances are it wouldnt have been) and have to work on upgrading it almost everyday. Bah I dont have time for that shit.

And punkbuster doesnt have time to upgrade their anticheat stuff as well. It takes them a month to upgrade, and in that time the cheaters came out with 100 upgrade to counter-act what ever punkbuster is coming out with. Bah anyway.

"So I guess I changed some. Sometimes I wonder if I've changed so much my wife is even gonna recognize me whenever it is I get back to her. And how I'll ever be able to, to tell her about days like today. Ah, Ryan...I don't know anything about Ryan and I don't care. The man means nothing to me. He's just a name. But if you know, going on to Ramelle and finding him so he can go home, if that earns me the right to get back to my wife, well then, that's my mission."

Inforit 01-06-2002 08:05 AM

I stopped playing CS ever since the MOHAA MP demo came out. CS was the only game that I would come back to and play for hours with my buddies, but with the cheating going on its just not fun anymore.
Valve made a bad decision for not supporting Punkbuster.

I must diagree, Unreal Tournament was uhh, another bar raise before MOHAA. It was HL, Quake (maybe), Unreal Tournament, now maybe MOHAA. Although, U2 is said to be very good, anjd its not even out yet. Preiviewrs already have said its the most beautiful game theyve ever seen, and that it will set a new standard. So frankly, there will always be great games, but there will always be games later that will be better becuase of technology. The question now is, how realistic, or how advanced wil it get before there is almost no difference between the game and reality??

Hmmm, makes you think.
