Multiplayer on 56k
 

How is that? Does anyone play with 56k modem? I got a modem on my new computerbut is curious if I should even bother to try and play Medal of Honor with a 56k? oOo:

iv played bf1942 with people on 56k who got pings of 150, its better than moh though.

I could play games on the HL engine, like DoD and CS when I played it had about 210 ping, which is fine for me. Also games on Battle.net were fine. Now I get like 120 ping with DSL.

I play mohaa on 56k and i can own people, so when i go to lan parties i can showcase my uber 1337 sniper skillz

cable/dsl isn't that expensive, just buy it, it's worth it biggrin:

56K can work fine as long as you have a half way decent computer.

Alot of servers run Auto-Kick to boot high pingers. Good luck trying, but it won't be that great.

Dude, I get that with my DSL. My average ping is 150.

Exact same thing with my DSL. Average ping is about 120-150 most of the time on a good server.

I use 56k, it's really good practise. After playing mohaa for ages on 56k, when I went to play on my mates faster connections, or at a cyber cafe, I find I am |337 skill3d.

yea when i had 56k and switched to dsl i pwned those mothas, now im kinda used to dsl since nothing goes that much faster

Had Dsl and Cable at the same time. DSL at the most, I could d/l was at 65-68 kb/s. With cable I get 190kb/s. Thats a whole lot faster than DSL.

get cable. I have DSL and my ping is ALWAYS above 350. Hopefully i will get RR cable soon

I really feel sorry for those people who have DSL and still only get over 100 ping.

I used to get lower pings than that on an ISDN 64k line.

Lowest ping I've seen on my ADSL is 10 or so. The advantages of living in a very small country.

Having said that, I get 90-150 ping on a lot of US servers and I am an entire ocean away.

Yeah, it's bullshit. Playing on a U.S. server with people overseas, they had better ping than me. I even lag connecting to the cyber-cafe which is only 7 blocks away from my house...MSN DSL is retarded...We have a stupid contract which is up next week though. What's a good, cheap, reliable cable service?

When I used to run 56k back in the day, I averaged a ping 200 - 250. Wasn't that bad but still became an annoyance. Since then I have gotten DSL for $40 a month and my average ping is exactly at 50. Definently worth the money. biggrin:

i sometimes usually get lower pings with my 128k cable compared to my clan who all have 600k cable or above, my ping averages around 20 on UK servers, 80 on US server, theres are around 40 on UK and 120 on US, lol the funny thing is they pay £25+ for their cable and i only pay £15 a month lol biggrin:

Oh, almost forgot. My line runs at 1.1meg Download and 384k Upload. Thats why I get 50 ping on any server. Though on some servers, if I am lucky, it can drop down to 25 or so, but that doesn't happen often.

I would love to get DSL, but im a mile too far from service.

To the original poster, lots of people are good 56K players. I'm not so bad myself. :D I'm getting cable in a week. To tell you the truth, I don't know how much the ping makes a difference, because I've never played the game on a very low ping before. But, I do know that if you're on 56K, it will be much harder for you to use like the typical "single-shot" weapons, like the sniper rifle or the normal rifles. I'm not saying it will be impossible, but just harder. On "bullet sprayers" like the MG and the SMG, it shouldn't make that big of a deal.

What games are good for a 48-49k connection? The Black Hawk down demo worked pretty well, and Wolfenstien was ok, but I need more mplayer games that work for me. I would try to get cabel or dsl, but I live in a town where you have 3 options. 1. No net 2. Dial up. 3. Satillite

Yes, but we're on a 1 year contract. Thank God this one ended yesterday, and the one at my other house ends next week. Still don't know what to get that's good and available here.

i use cable modem ANDdefinatly worth iti can be playing servers in the uk (from new mexico) ad get a ping of 87 easy and people with 56k that live down the road from me (shoould getta low ping) NOPE they average 200 and my Auto Kick catchs them so really just pay for cable (dsl aint very good i hated playing with 110 pings!) when i play regular servbers in the us i get around 15 so really just get cable! ditch the 56k

ditch the 56k if you can afford it but if you don't want to be a 'serious' player an just have fun then who cares there are some very good 56k mohaa players that i have seen thrash many people with pings 170+ lower than their own. me being a 56k mohaa player at the mo i can say after playing on my friends broadband that it is a little frustrating. but do u not realise people did play on 56k modems before dsl an cable an now those that still do get kicked just because they have a high ping hake: . oh well just my 2 cents mwah:
