NEWS: Oil Facility (IN MY HOME TOWN!) Explosion, Staten Is.

A oil storage facility about 20 minutes from my house exploded about a 1/2 hour ago, now there's thick black smoke all through the island. So far, NO terrorist activity is suspected.

[quote:db489]NEW YORK, Feb. 21 — An explosion that occurred while a barge was unloading barrels of gasoline sparked a massive blaze Friday at an ExxonMobil petroleum storage facility on Staten Island, a company spokesman said. One employee was injured, and two people associated with the barge were missing, said the spokesman[/quote:db489]

did you hear it or jsut see the smoke?

I should think something that big makes a godawful noise when it blows up.

Bazooka_Joe 02-21-2003 12:26 PM

I wasn't home, but my friend said it felt like an earthquake, and he saw all the smoke. The pictures are just like Sept 11th.

Argon 02-21-2003 12:37 PM

Wow, I was just on CNN reading about the Club Fire in Warwick Rhode Island at the Great White show and they flash the explosion at NY. Damn scary everything is blowing up and catching on fire these days. I wonder if this shit is giving terrorist any ideas.

AWESOME! INHALE THAT SWEET SMELL OF BURNING PETROL FELLAS!!! LETS PUNCH A HOLE IN THE OZONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It could be terrorists, you never know.
They don't even have to be ragheads, various radical groups like Aryan Nations support Al Quaeda because they hate the government for "supporting Israel".

Remeber that teh anthrax attacks were caused by an American.

I used to live near there! Well sorta.. I used to live on Long Island. We had Amy Fishcher (a.k.a. Long Island Lolita) stay at our house! I sorta remember that part of the area of Staten Island.

Strange no one has posted about the Fire in RI. Within miles of where Rudedog and Myself live. The thing started so fast, the death count is up to 86. Scary because I was watching live last night and the reporters made no indication that anyone was dead, just some injured.
