Multiplayer Bots Full Version Released !!
 
Yep that's right, jv_map has just finished his project that allows bots in multiplayer games. These bots are computer-controlled enemies to fill up a server if there are few players online or just to play against if you don't have a fast internet connection and are bored of playing the single player campaign.

Read more about it and about the release of the Bot SDK and the Bot Manual (allows you to add bots to your own maps) over @ .map

I'm guessing you never played jv_map's original mod with bots. They are a beautiful thing, for a person who dosen't have the game source code.

The Bots are JV_maps work alone - I just sat back , beta tested a bit and watched in awe......

Hmmm.. Finally got to a working link and downloaded the (opcenter_bots_obj.zip) file..

So these bots are only for AlliedAssault? Not Spearhead?

Is there a final bot thingy that works on all Spearhead maps?

Not for MOH they aren't. Try it before you knock it, d00d. And keep in mind; a gamer made them, not a EA or 2015 developer.

It'll be good for 56k'er I guess, but for me, naw. A good part of the fun of multiplayer is knowing that you're playing against actual people. People with different styles and ability. No matter how good the (bot) AI is, it'll never (or least not yet) compare to real human intelligence (or lack there of :) )

Thats cool Surgeon! However I cant seem to run the op_centre map, everytime I start my server I get kicked, im there for approx 5 seconds then as all the bots join im kicked out to main menu, any ideas?

I've tried it and it's quite good, but the bots do not react as fast as a human player. Nevertheless they do shoot, and quite accurately at that.

I find that when the bots are running they dismiss your presence. Maybe I don't know how to use them yet. Is it possible to turn them on and off during a game, and is it possible to change their skills level to suit a game?

They do taunt, which I think is a pretty neat feature.

One thing I'd love to see is a toggle to for bots to plant and deactivate bombs, so if there are enough human players in a team bots setting bombs can be deactivated.

Okay this might help. Make sure you have both pk3 files in your main folder.
  1. Start mohaa[/*:m:82c0c]
  2. Bring down console[/*:m:82c0c]
  3. Type: 'logfile 2'[/*:m:82c0c]
  4. Type: 'developer 1'[/*:m:82c0c]
  5. Type: 'devmap obj/opcenter_bots_obj'[/*:m:82c0c]
  6. Wait for the game to crash[/*:m:82c0c]
  7. Send the file qconsole.log in the main directory to: jv_map@planetmedalofhonor.com[/*:m:82c0c]

This line indicates you have an old version of my bot scripts somewhere. Maybe extracted to the global folder? Remove any files prefixed 'jv_' from the main/global folder. Also check for custom bot pk3s like mp_ai_beta.pk3.

jv_map, your bots map is fantastic. The more I play the more teamwork I get from them. I know that is impossible but that's how it feels.

I have a couple of questions I wonder if you can help me in; firstly I've tried many times to turn off friendly fire between human players and bots without success. Can you tell me how to turn this off? Also is there a way to reinstate bots during a game after using the kickbot commands?

Just wanted to say, thanks very much for all your very hard work, putting this together , especially without the source code. As long as there are guys around willing to stress designs (Like the Amiga days) the games industry can only get better.

I'm really pleased playing this stuff, just hope you can hurry up and finish the manual, and then who knows, one day , you might do an "Point and click Add bot for C++ retards" type of utility -lol

Don't listen to the odd tools, who post crap. The Bots react plenty fast when they're turned up, they sneak up on you, the b8stards , their snipers are gunmen incarnate, and I actually got sweaty palms tonight, running gunning and yes -hiding. My only criticism, is that the path nodes don't extend far enough , so I know where I can expect to first start engaging Nazi scumbots.

Please hurry up and finish the manual.... nOOb question, but can I put the bots into some of the maps I've downloaded? Just imagining Dog White with Bots :)

I'm afraid that's not possible as all scripting is server-side :|.
