america land of the free?
so much for free speech eh? http://www.msnbc.com/local/WNYT/M276307.asp?cp1=1
|
Pretty hypocritical to say the least. I guess freedom of speech goes out the window when a president is obviously obsessed with something. hake:
|
Serves them right for wearing such fucking ugly shirts.... biggrin:
Basically, he didnt comply with a reasonable request put to him by the Mall's security who had every right to ask those men to remove those shirts. One didnt comply and was dealt with. Its simple really. The person who was offended by those shirts has the right not to be offended by them and was very much in the right to have security ask them to be removed. I'd do the same myself. This has nothing to do with Bush Gerard. This has everything to do with someone not abiding by securities requests. |
That's pretty horrible. If I wanted to wear a shirt saying something I believed in, I should be able to...so long as it wouldn't offend innocent kids or something.
"Give Peace a Chance" is totally acceptable. "Pound George W. in the Butthole" might not be so acceptable. Zone |

Hmmm come to think of it that would make a pretty snazzy t-shirt. biggrin: |

Freedom of speech does not override private property rights, much like the admins of this site can censor what ever they like, its a private site and freedom of speech does not apply, you are a guest. I am pretty sure that canada is very much the same.

Hey Sgt Scrot,
Why are you just trying to get a flame war started? I, personally, dont give a flying f*ck if you hate America. Im kinda glad you do. Im also Joe locked your other thread because no good would come from that. Just because you live in USA-lite dont cry, you could always move down here and get some human rights. As for this post the man with the Tshirt did exactly what I would do because we DO have a freedom of speech. He will make a ton of money from that store, they violated his rights. He bought the shirt in the same mall! Give peace a chance is not nessarly an anti war statement, he could be a John Lennon fan! |
Everyone's entitled to their own opinion. I for one, want to nuke Iraq, but I don't go into the public shopping mall with that painted on my chest. At the same time that they were not at a peace rally, he should be able to demostrate his ideas on the war. Even as he says, he wasn't doing anything out of the ordinary.
|
"Give Peace a Chance" is offensive? lol. We are a warmongoring country.
|
Well, the constitution only applies to government agencies not being nazi shits. It don't say anything about private companies.
In fact malls are probably the only source of nazi oppression in this country. The mall in my city has a rule that says groups of more than 4 teenagers will be broken up. WTF? If a couple of kids happen to be walking in the mall and they run into two more friends and start talking, and then a couple more friends show up, they can get chased out of the mall??? |
Like being kicked out of a mall is such a bad thing? biggrin:
|
Yes, it is extreme, but no ones rights were deprived. No one was persecuted or beaten. I somehow think there is more to the story than is being told here, but it really doesnt matter. The mall is a business, if they offend you with their actions, dont go there any more. I do my best not supprot businesses that support anti-gun groups or animal rights extremists. It isnt so hard.
|
LMAO
Ok, this is just too funny. Your making a big deal b/c he was kicked out of the mall??
First off, the security guards have every right to ask someone to remove a piece of offensive clothing. Not because he doesn't like it, because he has to protect the people visiting his mall. Something like that can cause a riot and get some people seriously hurt. I applaude the security guard in his sense of duty. As far as free Speech goes, It is a free country, you can say anything you want, you might get your ass pounded because of it. That is simply because people don't understand. However, if memory comes to serve, most countrys in Europe don't have the right of free speech. Especially in times past lots of people were jailed, and exectued simply b/c they held a political difference with the ruler of their country. So stop your bashing of the US. You have a problem with us? Thats your problem. If you don't like it here, don't step foot in this country. And I won't have to worry about you breathing our air and polluting this great country with your stench. |
fukin gestapo, who the hell would be offended by a simple shirt. you gung ho war freaks dont understand that if a world war was started by George asshat Bush, no one would come out alive. this is not a war against terrorism, its a war against islam. there are terrorists here in america, plenty of them in ireland but George isnt doing shit about them is he? This is his version of a fukin crusade
|
This is why they didn't want the protestors in the mall:
[quote:3dee3] Demonstrators upset about the trespassing charge arrived at Crossgates shortly before noon Wednesday wearing similar peace messages. At 12 p.m., they entered the mall together and sat down for lunch at the food court. They said they were doing what Stephen and Roger Downs should have been allowed to do. When a few protestors decided to get a little more vocal, a 55-year-old veteran attacked them. That veteran yelled at the protestors and then went so far as to push the men. [/quote:3dee3] |

free speech has its limits, about 95% of the people in the world dont see that |
I agree with Camel Toe...
... and a fucking peace shirt offended someone !? WHO !? Jesus FUCKING Christ some people are dumb: they're stealing ressources (air, food, lodging) that would be best used elsewhere! I' ve almost heard it all, now. hake: |

(but we already know that 40% of Americans are morons, since that 40% cannot locate Iraq and New York state on a map hake: ) |
Actually 40% of the people in America are illegal immagrants oOo:

No one is argueing that it wasnt a knee jerk reaction. Most are responding to the freedom of speech arguement.
I will say it again, I am sure there is more to the story than we are being told. Did an arguement break out in the store? Were they being antaganistic about their cause? Dunno, but I sure would like to. |

I'm sure that if it was a pro-war shirt the person would have been kicked out too. With all this liability and political correctness bullshit we'll probably have to wear jeans and plain white shirts to the mall not to offend anyone |
Scrotum you start all these threads that spark violence look at you freaking sig you hypocritical idiot
|
my 2 cents
1st cent: Scrotum no one gives a fuck what you think. stop making gay threads for the purpose of a flame war.
2nd cent: a mall, like nearly everything in America, is private property owned by an individual or a group of them, who chose to allow their property to become a public place by making it a mall. They have every right to decide who can enter into their mall as long as it doesn't break any discrimination laws. the security guard is just doing his job, which is to make the mall a comfortable place for EVERYONE. thats it. |
first of all its a normal discussion not a flame war asshat
and it is discriminating, i mean what if they kicked everyone out that had a blue shirt on |
its not a flame war even though your trying to turn it into one.
|
dont worry i got ur back scrotum, us genitals gotta stick together
