EyeCandy : Flamethrower Edition
Thats right folks. The EyeCandy team has updated its newest version with the Flamethrower Mod. The mod is a server-sided mod, but you still need to download it in order to see the flamethrower in-game. The flamethrower has been scripted into every stock DM map. The Flamethrower Edition is currently running on the DRT clan server. The IP is 63.210.56.131 . We are still tweaking the mod, so please bare with us. Credit for the flamethrower goes to Balr14, KamikazeNRG, Killer Kind, and 7Es Cyborg. |

The new flamethrower is sick brotha. I like how you guys took out the annoying SPR sound when the Springfield fires.....looks really nice!! biggrin:

Update.
Got an update for all of you. Here are 2 more screenshots I just took. 90% of the lag issues have been resolved and I have changed some variables and reskinned the model. Check the forums shortly for another update.

i just tried it on my server..absolutely incredible..you guys did a fantastic job on that whole mod. ive done a few server side mods before but nothing like that. very nice mike..cant say enough good things about it.

I played the Pacific Assault MP map over the weekend (which features the flamthrower) and it REALLY kills FPS.
Hopefully this version of the torcher won't drop FPS to unplayable levels. Still, the fact that someone put the thrower in the game is VERY cool. Zone |
The lag issue was something that I tackled first. With some various tweaking, I got the FPS boosted +20 from where it was originally with the flamethrower. As of now, it can be used without being distracted due to the lag. biggrin:

As I told Butch in a PM, the server-sided part of the flamethrower mod won't be available as of yet for you admins to host on your server. I am still trying to tweak the map .scr files so that each team can have a grab at the flamethrower and camping can be cut down to a minimum. I'll post when its ready for download, which could be anyday now. Thanks for your interest. biggrin:

What I am going to do is take screenshots of each map showing the locations of each flamethrower, and see if you all agree with their placement. That way it will be as fair as possible.

To download the latest version of EyeCandy with the flamethrower, check the link in my first post in this thread. Then hop on the DRT clan server (63.210.56.131) and try it out. The server-sided part of the mod for you to host on your server won't be available quite yet, but I will let you know when its ready. Should be shortly. Oh, and thanks for the compliment Joe. We are working harder than ever.

Ok folks, have I got an update for you!!!
Several things have been updated. Here we go : -The flamethrower now features real-time reflective chrome -The stream is now just that. No more gaps in between the flames. -I can now record in-game demos, and compress them good enough to host for you all to see! No joke. And here is the best part. I have a working demo, which is being uploaded right now. I will post back in a couple of minutes with the link for all of you to view it. The video's quality is sufficient but had to be lowered to minimize filesize. Also, please don't take the ingame FPS as the actual FPS. Its just that low b/c I was using fraps to record. Ok, i'll post back in a few. :) |

Well, we didn't make the gun model itself. We are just implementing it into the stock DM maps and heavily tweaking the files to produce a more realistic flamethrower versus what was originally made by the guys on TMT. But, the flamer is only the beginning. Believe it or not, I have mananged to get smoke grenades into AA. I was going to wait to let you all know, but I am feeling jolly today. biggrin:

Heh, I figured someone would have worked on the smoke grenades already. But I am not a fabulous modeler, so I just took all of the SH files and got them to work in AA. Beats making a new model I guess. Hey, a quick idea. How did your version of the smoke grenades look with AA if you have added them? Maybe we can work something out to implement your version into the mod. Let me know.

It more of Ktogs mod than mine, so I think that you're better off speaking with him. The only differences are that:

Okay, we have an update for you. We have moved onto Version 1.1c with the flamethrower. Because of high-demand from the community, we have gotten rid of the map spawned flamers, and made it a selectable weapon from the start. I will post an update when the new version is up on the site, and I will then show you how to use the flamer in the new version. Thanks.

Well as of right now, with this newest version, it can be hosted on the server, but b/c it uses non-stock files, the clients must have it as well. So basically you will need the console to post messages saying you need this mod to fully play with the new weapon. But to answer your question, yes it can now be hosted on a server b/c it dosent rely on the map spawns anymore. Just need those players to grab it as well.
