Crazy to think back in the 80's the French helped Iraq get a nuclear system going. Maybe thats why they don't want to help.

Trip, the French are avoiding the war. They arent fighting. We Americans did fight in both wars, regardless of when we entered. And besides, I dont see the French giving ammo, workers, and supplies to America, do you?

Hey they don't have to get involved other then voting yes on the resolution to got to war. We don't need them for anything else. We asked for one thing and they said No. So I'll eat freedom frys and freedom toast. And we can let them eat cake.

No I don't.....Doing that would be participating in the combat. They obviously believed that this war could be avoided, and still stand by that principle....Have you noticed how they are offering their help if chemical weapons are used? It's obvious that the French don't believe this war is just, and Until Sadaam does something like use Chemicals, they will help out, because that indicates unjust methods of warfare, against the allies.

I wasn't refering to when the Americans joined WW1 and WW2.
I was referring to France's Political stances. They always seem to want more proof before they act. Take the Franco Prussian War for example. Germany was totally prepared to kick ass while what did the French do? They just chilled eating their Fries and drinking their skunk water.
WW1 I don't count since it was all treaties that started the war. "If you attack here then my country will attack you." That kind of shit.
WW2 on the other hand, France should have reacted when Germany initially marched into the Rhine Land and violated the treaty of Varsailles. Had France Racted to that violation the Germans wouldn't have offered that much resistance since the troops that marched in didn't have enough ammo to make an effective stand.
Once again, the French blundered. Thinking that Hitler wouldn't attack Poland and they wanted more proof before they reacted. So then in all the French Wisdom they built their wall that was suspossed to hold the Germans. But hey, here is something the French didn't think of, Instead of attacking a full frontal assault like they were suspossed to, the Germans cheated and went around the wall. Those Bastards!! Before the French knew it, the Germans were walking down the streets of Paris and Hitler was doing his little victory dance.
Fast Forward a few years to Vietnam. Once again the Frenchies said that they needed more proof that the Viet Cong had a massive Army. So what happened? Dien Ben Phu. The French were cutoff and after a nice little fireworks display the French were out of Vietnam.
What is the point? The point is throughout history the Frenchies needed more proof before they decide to act. Little too late the French always got their asses kicked. Its the same thing now, they didn't want to help us when we asked for it, so fuck em! Don't let them say shit after post war Iraq.

If the United States was being Invaded by an overwhelming force would you expect our govenrment to use WMDs against the aggressor?

Probably not, they wouldnt risk killing americans with them, unlike saddam who's soldiers rape and pillage everything

Yeah, they're offering airfields for use, and allowing the U.S miliotary to fly over their airspace, Belgium refused this.

The French also now are saying that if Sadaam should use chemical weapons, they will act. I think these are fine terms.

You know, Britain also appeased the Germans, it wasn't just France.....In fact, it was Chamberlain who pushed to appease, more than the French themselves.

Can't you see that because of the fact they always get fucked over, they are sitting this one out for a while....They're in no direct danger like they were in WW1 & WW2, so they can safely do so. Apparently Bush doesn't rerally care about his soldiers lives as much as the French government does.
