Favourite Battle-scene(s) in a Movie?

Mine would have to be the beginning of Gladiator, 2nd battle of Braveheart, Final Battle of The Patriot and the beginning of Enemy At The Gates. Also, the D-day landing on SPR and Beginning of The Mummy Returns gets honourable mention.

Innoxx 03-22-2003 04:51 PM

...and I posted in the wrong forum, Joe or any other mod please move this to the OT.

White Rabbit 03-22-2003 09:44 PM

Post in the right forum puppy raper

Just thought id say that.

Anyways, back to topic, im gonna have to say the D-Day battle in the beginning of SPR, and the part in we were soldiers where the planes drop bombs in the open feild.

Proteus 03-22-2003 11:09 PM

I would have to say, the underrated film, "WindTalkers". The scene were they storm Saipan, that was great. And in the movie, "We Were Soldiers". Were they go into battle and have to stay over night.

Bazooka_Joe 03-22-2003 11:21 PM

Moved to Offtopic.

The matrix dojo scene.

Vance 03-22-2003 11:24 PM

Pretty much all of Black Hawk Down, D-Day SPR, Matrix Subway, Tears of the Sun (the last battle scene), Band of Brothers (when they destroy the arty guns on D-Day)

Chronic Diarrhea 03-22-2003 11:24 PM

Pearl Harbor Attack, Pearl Harbor

Okay, now that you've scrolled down to try and flame me, I will change that to Omaha Invasion, Saving Private Ryan

JowShmoe 03-22-2003 11:24 PM

My favorite was the space battle in Return of the Jedi, but there are so many good ones it hard to pick.

Bucknub 03-22-2003 11:24 PM

the LORT battle at middle earth, the opening of SPR on D day and also the ending battle in SPR, moslty all the battle scenes in brave heart,

descry 03-22-2003 11:36 PM

Ya, the LOTR had some pretty coo battles.

MrLevinstein 03-22-2003 11:47 PM

The Two towers final battle was the best by far.

Bazooka_Joe 03-22-2003 11:56 PM

D00d, seriously. . .this says it all.

03-22-2003 11:58 PM

My favorite by order.
1. The beggining Scene of Gladiator
2.The D-Day for SPR
3.Battle of Helms Deep in LOTR

Chronic Diarrhea 03-22-2003 11:58 PM

I haven't watched that movie in freakin' years man. That scene was great.

Oddball 03-23-2003 12:12 AM

JOe that's a fight scene not a battle scene.

SPR is good, so realistic.

First battle in the Patriot. Excellent shot by a cannon.

Zulu. Final encounter with the Zulu's.

Enemy at the Gates. Russians charge Germans.

LOTR. Prologue Battle. Helm's Deep.

A Cousin of mine played an Orc in that Battle.....(Helm's Deep..NOT 8 Mile)

DeadBolt 03-23-2003 05:17 AM

What did he have to do to play the orc? Like put on an entire body suit? I know the far off shots must have been CG cuz theres just too many of them, but thats cool. biggrin:

Oddball 03-23-2003 05:48 AM

He musta been pretty beefy to play Uruk-Hai

Airborne Butters 03-23-2003 05:54 AM

I'd say either when Spiers charges in the town of Foy, on BoB, or when the helicopter comes over the hill and mows down some VC's in We Were Soldiers

Harlen Maguire 03-23-2003 06:41 AM

A couple of mine that hasn't been mentioned yet is...

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon:

Where the two sisters are fighting near the end, and the evil sister has the powerful Green Destiny Sword, which is whooping the other ones ass... The good sister goes through all sorts of weapons to try and defeat her... Really cool.

The Matrix X100...

Also, I feel the battle sequences in The Thin Red Line (Newer Version) are among the very best...

The entirety of the drawn out 45 minute hill-battle, Two scouts go forward, and are killed... Everyone gets down... Everythings still, peaceful... Then as that one Luietenant jumps up and is riddled by bullets, harrowing stuff...

Storming that Japanese camp, being in the fog... and hearing the bullets whizing past... fucking creepy... Hans Zimmer's score really adds something here...

Then, there's the sequence on the river bed, where Pvt. Witt is killed... That's probably my favourite... I cried when that happened, he was a great guy... :(

imported_captain_howdy 03-23-2003 09:16 AM

My favourite WW2 scene would have be in Enemy at the Gates when Vassilli gets that silly unscoped moisin nagants and managed to knock of 5 or so Krauts in the the process... amazing stuff

GreenEggs&Pot 03-23-2003 09:29 AM

The final battle in SPR, Helm's Deep, and a shitload of others that i probly cant remember right now

I think to be a great battle scene there needs to be a short period of forboding before the battle, so the tension gradual rises.

Enemy at the Gates was so unrealistic as far as sniping is concerned its not even funny.

03-23-2003 09:33 AM

Battle for Umm Qasr this morning live on TV. Very interesting to see everything getting shot up.

Finally, someone else who thinks The Thin Red Line was a good movie.

03-23-2003 09:54 AM

In BoB when Speirs charges straight through the Germans to get in contact with a Platoon around the city, then he runs back through and the Germans just stand there looking at him all confused.

Zap. USMC 03-23-2003 10:01 AM

The ambush scene in Forrest Gump

The last fight scene in Platoon

All the scenes in Predator (Especially the part when that guy gets shot, and all the other soldiers come up and light up the forrest)

Fight at Carentan in BoB

bored 03-23-2003 10:15 AM

My favourite realistic battle is what I am currently watching on cnn or sky news

Innoxx 03-23-2003 10:23 AM
