Sig Makers' Discussion - How Do You Cut Your Images?
 

I was just wondering what technique you guys use to cut out different images. Personally, I have recently switched to the pen tool and path selection for most important cut-outs, because it's much more precise than the magic wand tools. What about you?

Also, for those who want to learn, we can discuss how these techniques are done.

i just erase till its cut

Path? never used, saw the tool but never used. I usually use erase. I tryed out the snipey blending tutorial on that sig any good?

i use the smart edge in the free hand thing with a feather that is usally like 10 or so

polygonal lasso is what i use..then i add a gradient glow around the cut out to take away the jagged edges

i normally just use the extaction filter.

when using lasso how do you guys get your cut images so clean with all the uneven edges out?

You can erase the uneven edges

Well what I do is concentrate really hard, either that or zoom in with the magnifying glass. wink:

Exactly guarnere, it will take a while to get used to, but it's nothin' when you finally get it down.

No, to get rid of the rough edges, just put the feather up to like 10 or so. It fades the edges away, for that nice smoothe look.

But what i want to know, is if when you cut out an image, and you have the feather on 10, can you change the color of the feather. Like for example can you make it so when you cut out a guys head, the fading color is yellow? I dunno, i was just wondering.

Could you understand that? Damn that was hard to explain because i dont know much about adobe...

I tend to just go with the Newt method of Erasing 'till it looks right biggrin:

I use the lasso (freehand selection) to get rid of the majority of the unwanted image. Then, I nibble away using different eraser brushes. You need a steady hand for this, though.

A combination of all teh formentioned and a few that probably havnt been... Whatever get the image to look like what i want it to.

ctrl shift e - make all layers visible one layer
then take out the polygonal lasso tool and take out pieces of the pic you dont want visible

oops wrong cutting... nm i suck at making images perfectly cut lol

eraser and magneticlaso

from what i know you cant fade the feather to a different color, i use magnetic lasso and eraser for touching up. sometimes i even try select by the color if theres a few different colors used
