AP Tests
Have any of you guys taken any AP tests? I'm going to take my first one in AP American United States History on May 9th. It is going to be soooooo freakin' hard. That's all i have to say.
If you have any tips, post them up here. Any websites, post them here. I have a review website for US history and i'll post it once i get on my own computer. |
Study... a lot. I took the AP US history exam 4 years ago... Its not THAT hard, just really in debth.
|
I'm taking a US History and Computer Science I AP test. I think the hardest thing will be writing the DBQ (for history) in 45 minutes.
|
Took the AP Physics test. THAT was a hard test.
The best thing you can do is see if anyone in your school has taken the test, and ask them the stlye of questions they ask. There is NO WAY you can know whats on the test - so theres no point in studying in depth a ton of material. I know on one AP test i took (that I didnt pay for) a bunch of us just wrote a bunch of shit in the little text boxes like "fuck you you dirty bastard...not even Hawking can figure this shit out"...so on and so forth. I mean we were laughing our asses off to how ridiculously hard the thing was. |

Not sure how much that will help you this close to the exam though. |

exactly...We did an in-class practice DBQ yesterday and I think i did pretty well on it. It was about dropping the Atomic bomb on Japan. BUT, the thing that sucks is we won't know the time period for the DBQ. Every previous year, they gave a 50 year time period---not this year; we're the guinnie pigs with their new method. I'm pretty good if i know what the time will be. But i know i won't be able to remember any key terms on May 9th. cry: |

Gothic, what did you get on the test? I'm guessing you passed? |
I only got an 83. Never been too good at big tests.
You'll do fine. |
i've got to take AP physics and English tests this year and Math and the rest of the sciences next year...not looking forward to it

I was against the idea that the bombs were dropped to intimidate the Soviets, but I didn't use enough documents and lost several points. She pulled a cheap one on us and posted the documents around the room, allowing us 1.5 minutes to read each one. (instead of giving us a packet) And that's not enough time to read the passage and jot down good notes about it... Anyways, I've heard rumors (from my teacher) that the topic this year will be on modern times, possibly Vietnam. |
im taking ap english test sometime in may, next year i have to take bc calc test, ap english 4 test and ap psychology, its going to sux0r

I hate super smart people who complain when they get 96% on a test instead of 98%. While I sit with like a high 70 or low 80 and they are complaining about a 96, give me a fucking break.

haha we didnt havre that ap shit

I believe you ned to only get like 70% on the chem test to get a 5. the calc test was something like 55% oOo: |
yea they curve it like a mother fuker,my ap english teacher told me you only have to shoot for getting half the multiple choice right and like really low on the essays. i just hope i get simple promtps
|
Calculus is teh uber easy-0rz.
|
on ap tests, what do they do about questions you skip? is it counted as wrong?
|
Quote:
I think they don't count as wrong answers, BUT they do take away from the total questions they use to calculate your score. EXAMPLE you have 50 questions....you skip 4. Say you got 36 right. You're score for that section would be 36/46. I'm NOT POSITIVE ABOUT THAT. IT DOESN"T SOUND RIGHT, but i'll find out for ya. |
That doesn't sound right at all. I'll just do the easiest question, skip the rest, and get a 100 on the test...

my thoughts exactly |
1 Each answer sheet is run through an electronic scanner. This transfers the information directly to cartridges, creating a record for that sheet.
2 The scanning cartridge is processed by computer. The computer program checks each record for invalid or missing identification data and scores the student's responses. 3 The computer counts how many answers the student got wrong, then deducts a fraction of that number from the number of right answers. For exams with five-choice items, the fraction is one quarter; for those with four-choice items, it is one third. This type of scoring is appropriate for tests where students are not expected to have mastered all of the material that might be tested. With this procedure, the average multiple-choice score under purely random guessing is zero. 4 The total score is now rounded to the nearest whole number; if the score falls halfway between two whole numbers, it is rounded upward. If the student scores less than zero as a result of the correction for guessing, the score is replaced with a zero. 5 Finally, the computer creates a record for the student, containing his or her total multiple-choice score, and any subsection scores needed for calculating the composite score. After the 2002 administration, nearly 938,000 answer sheets were returned to ETS and then scanned in approximately two weeks. |

You don't get credit for the questions you don't answer so you'd only get the points fir the question you answered. |
