HOLY COW ARE THESE PEOPLE KIDDING?(guitar related)
Well heres the story...
I've recently wanted to play the guitar because ya know I need a hobby to fill the time so I was gonna get some lessons. The thing is the lessons cost $15 bucks per half hour and I was like wtf? I had no idea that they would be this expensive. Are they always like that expensive? |
That seems a little expensive. $30 an HOUR? Jeeze man, just download some tabs and learn yourself. I learned by buying guitar mags and playing along with tunes.
Is that alot, 30? IMO, that sounds cheap. I took drum lessons for 22 bucks an hour.
well, my trumpet lessons cost $17 for a half-hour. So, yeah, private lessons are very expensive...especially if they are with someone who plays professionlly.
yea, i learned by taking a song i knew by heart (deftones), and finding the tab...and figured the tab out, and played it...now i can tear it up wink:

i took guitar lessons a while ago and they were not that much, maybe 10 an hr
Just hang around a friend or two that plays well, and just learn that way. I have several friends who are awesome on guitar.
The problem is I don't have any friends that play guitar, oh well I'll have to figure it out myself.

here this is really good for beginners. i learned how to play guitar from this guy
hop on kazza search for "yngwie maimsteen instructional video" |
Yeah, they are a bit spendy. I took them once a week for about two months...enough to learn the fundamentals. Then I taught myself from there.
bah, i tried taking an instrument. But ive had a bad memory since Jan '00, so i always forgot notes and how to play without a book, so i just quit. I took it because we had practices during class evil:
But i sucked, so i quit |
how much would it cost for a piano lesson and are privates the best way for that?
[quote="Old Reliable":bb376]how much would it cost for a piano lesson and are privates the best way for that?[/quote:bb376] It all depends on the teacher. At this place that i go to (Nazareth Music Center), there are private teachers for every instrument. The piano lady is going for $15 for a half hour. BUT, if you already know music (reading notes, rhythms, etc) then i'd recomend you just teach yourself it. It's not that hard once you know music...maybe the hardest thing will just be finding which finger hits what key at what time.
I'm currently teaching myself piano and I think it is pretty easy. You can just go buy a book that would teach you the fundimentals. |
Yeah, 32 bucks canadian per 1/2 an hour for bass lessons up here. I did what Snacki did and just took it for a couple of months to learn the basics. Then I brought books and taught myself along with playing by ear. I've been playing alot lately and I'm re-developing my caluses (sp?). I also heard that it costs 500 bucks per hour to get lesson from Joe Santriani.
$500 for Santriani! Man, imagine how much Joe Satriani charges!! heh heh heh biggrin:
For 2 hours with a trumpet player named Maynard Ferguson (popular funk player) is $2,000...yeah and he's worth every cent too. God, i wish i was half as good as that guy.
