Best Guitar solo?

definitely "One" by Metallica.

MrLevinstein 04-25-2003 03:55 PM

Heh Kirk Owns in that solo he doesn't use his pick he taps it with his middle finger. It's aamazing to watch the music video. Another one of my favorite solos is.... Either Master Of puppets (first one by james), dyers ever, or fade to black. Its hard to say when you have two freaking amazing guitarists in a band with eachother. As for modern metal..... no solos found

Bazooka_Joe 04-25-2003 04:07 PM

Kirk Hammet is great man, but nothing beats the guitar solo in Freebird by Lynard Skynard.

1080jibber 04-25-2003 04:09 PM

thunder: ACDC

thats the best gutiar solo

I forgot to mention all the banjo solos out there. The banjo owns man. Download "Rocky Top" by Ricky Skaggs.

McCoy 03 04-25-2003 05:02 PM

Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and John Lennon, greatest of all time, even though Paul McCartney played bass in The Beatles, he still played guitar at times.

04-25-2003 05:10 PM

satch boogie. joe satriani. who tought kirk hammet by the way. or some steve via. these guys can play circles around kirk.

Magnum 04-25-2003 05:48 PM

If you are serious, you need to listen to Bela Fleck and the Flecktones. Fuckin' awesome.

04-25-2003 05:52 PM

u kids gotta be kidding me. go download yngwie maimsteens instructional video. i gurantee u this guy will blow any guitar player out of the water. better than any acdc, any metallica any of that bullshit. he is the best

Bleed_4_Me 04-25-2003 05:53 PM

What about Eddie Van Halen's: Eruption! Do you guys know who EVH is? I must be too old!! oOo:

04-25-2003 05:55 PM

nope eddie doesnt compare to yngwie. yngwie is my homeboy

04-25-2003 05:59 PM

its callled chord progression check it out

04-25-2003 06:00 PM

and theres more to get, the whole instructional video is crazyness. sorry for so many posts

Zoner 04-25-2003 06:02 PM

Yngwie is impressive, but I can only take listening to him in small doses...it's ALL super fast scales. It's like listening to an angry bee for 5 minutes.

One of the best solos I've heard is "For The Love of God" by Steve Vai off "Passion & Warfare"

Amazing.

Totenkopf 04-25-2003 06:27 PM

Speed doesn't mean better. Neither does technical knowledge.

A solo has to have heart, make you feel, be improvised.....

Hendrix, Mark Knopfler, Clapton, these guys can play.....

I love Metal, but the solos are really just guys seeing who can be the fastest.....not very enriching.

04-25-2003 06:42 PM

david gilmore more for feel. billy gibbons too. but the king is Jimmy Page.

as for ying yangmalmsteen. lol he is good but after 1st 2 albums got old. plus he is a asshole. and satch or vie could play way better over all. paul gilbert is fast if you like speed for speeds stake.

but Jimmy Page is over all the best guitarest to ever live. or let me say he is the best song writer. close 2nd beatles

Dire Straits.

Another gutarist to check out is Al Di Meola, fussion jazz at it best.

Vance 04-25-2003 06:53 PM

Pretty much all of Jimmi Hendrix's songs

04-25-2003 06:57 PM

there are so many great guitarist. you cant really say who is best. now if you had categories it would be easier. like blues, metal, jazz, country, rock and roll. to name a few.

Magnum 04-25-2003 07:25 PM

Don't forget Tim Reynolds or Django Reinhardt either.

Eight Ace 04-25-2003 07:44 PM

Anything by these guys...

Eight Ace 04-25-2003 07:53 PM

Why not?

Sorry to say, but his sounds came from The Beatles, you could say John Lennon invented Jimi Hendrix, his sounds came from The Beatles, download the song I Feel Fine, that sound.

McCoy 03 04-25-2003 08:15 PM

But yes Jimi Hendrix was a great guitarist.

Amazing.

thats one of my favourite solos aswell, i can play about 1 min of it so far.

my favourite guitarist is randy rhoads tho. the mr crowly solo and outro is one of the best ive ever heard. One has a good solo, but right hand tapping [the start of the solo] is easy. some iron maiden solos are also good, like the trooper and number of the beast

i think the free bird solo hsa got to be the best ever tho. brian may plays some good songs aswell, but most people ignore him.

Unknown_Sniper 04-25-2003 08:27 PM

Hendrix is a great guitarist. and He does have some Godly solo's. But there not the best. TO me the best solo's are what I play :P. And I think the best solos are simple yet..........mind numbing.

P.S. Whos musical talent wasnt influenced by the beatles?

Milla 04-25-2003 08:27 PM

He said Jimi Hendrix

MrLevinstein 04-25-2003 08:28 PM

The best solos come from the heart and make you feel

McCoy 03 04-25-2003 08:33 PM

Tons were influenced by The Beatles, but Jimi Hendrix's sounds, you could say Lennon invented them.

Unknown_Sniper 04-25-2003 08:38 PM

may be but then you could say weezer was also invented. Im not picking on weezer I like them. Ive been to a concert of theres. it was pretty fun

McCoy 03 04-25-2003 08:41 PM

The only fucking reason I said Hendrix was invented by Lennon, because it was quoted by George Harrison.

McCoy 03 04-25-2003 08:42 PM

ok chill dude jeesh. eatthis:

[quote="[DAS REICH]Unknown_Sniper":328b1]P.S. Whos musical talent wasnt influenced by the beatles?[/quote:328b1]

mine. ive never listened to the beetles, only old metal, like iron maiden, ozzy, sabbath, priest, ac/dc etc, and thats what i play mostly, apart from some punk stuff [real punk, not pop-punk]

btw, one of the best punk songs is I wanna conquer the world by bad religion. thats got loads of solos. and dont drag me down by social distortion has a good solo

04-25-2003 09:53 PM

[quote:d1862]Sorry to say, but his sounds came from The Beatles, you could say John Lennon invented Jimi Hendrix, his sounds came from The Beatles, download the song I Feel Fine, that sound.

that is the dumbest statement i read in a long time. hendrix was discovered by chas chandler the bass player for the animals. and for 1 hendrix played the chitlin circuit for years. and even played with ike turner, and little richard. he was brought up on the blues. he was playing a long time before beatles came around.

and who were the beatles influnced by. can you say bob dylon.

you ether miss read i miss heard that qoute from george. dont get me wrong hendrix liked the beatles but they are in no way resposable for his sound.

in fact when they realed sgt pepper on a friday. he learned it and the 1st time they saw him on that sunday he played it and they were amazed. and just stood there in awe.
