Modern Map
 
"This was originally goanna be a 40’s themed map but I got tired of playing that era and started to make it in a more contemporary theme half way through it (you can tell from half the map :D) Anyway, I’m mostly done with all the structure work. Gotta fix up and replace some brushes and textures. And do the vis. Also hafta put some more models around the place like cars and crap. I’m gonna try to make this an objective map. A complex one with multiple objectives; around 6 or 7 individual objectives. Mostly blow some crap up like those power generators or that bridge over the street, etc. But they’ll be some nice ones like steal and defend a truck as it drive across the map. Or by that train yard- where an armored gun train (gotta make that too) rolls in and needs to be blowup/defended as it shoots down a squadron of planes flying over it (not that realistic but should be fun as hell hehe). The map will start with one objective and move on to the next after it’s complete/failed. What the next objective will be depends on who won the last one so it’ll make a little bit of sense (even though ww2 soldiers fighting in modern streets doesn’t lol). The overall goal for the allies is to take the axis controlled docks starting from the city/town area. And the axis has to hold up. If the axis are losing then the last objectives become scored earth ones (if they can’t keep the place- then none will) same for allies if they cant manage to take the map from the axis. Whichever side that completes 3 objectives wins the round, so I hope that’ll give it a lot replay value with 3 to 5 posible objective to play out in a round. I was also thinking of having respawn enabled for this since the map’s big and the rounds might get real long. So everyone will have a chance to play each objective out. Maybe a mix of respawn and round base… Say you stay dead till there there’s 2 or 3 members of your team left alive, then you can respawn (of course respawn areas change with each objective to maxumise verity as there’s so many distinct areas). Don’t know if it’s even possible to make it respawn like that. But if it is, that could give it a good steady pace and have enough players alive to make the last objectives as lively as the first. I might need a lot of help with all that- it’s gonna be a lot of scripting and I hardly do that. So what do you guys think? Anyway I’ll post more screens as I progress."

I started it around August of last year I think, but I didn’t work on it from November ‘02 to March ’03 straite so I did about five months of actual work all together on and off i guess (sofar…)

I never read the objectives either, I myself prefer TDM, and hope you have a TDM version. The screenies look awesome.

Since this'll be for the Modern Warfare mod, and we need all the maps we can get; I could cut this huge map into 2 smaller DM maps. I was thinking of making the street half a night map with the streetlights on and everthing, I'd think that'd look cool. What do ya think?
