picking locks
 

anyone know how to pick simple locks with, say, a paper clip, or maybe a screw driver? There is a door on my desk that has a lock on it, and I forgot where I put the key.

/me wonders if it's as easy as in splinter cell hake:

1 flathead screwdriver, no bigger than 1/2 in diameter
1 mallet / steel hammer
2 hands

1) Place flathead screwdriver against key slot of lock.

2) Hit back of screwdriver with mallet or steel hammer, applying brute force.

3) Repeat until screwdriver is buried in lock.

Materials:

36" of THIN, STRONG wire (small enuf to fit in the space between
the door and the jamb)

2) little key chain hoop metal hang-keys-on thingies

Construction: just fold the chain in half so you have an 18" long loop. Now,
put one of the little hoop handle type thingies on each end. To use: Slide
the chain between the door jamb and the door, behind the bolt of the lock.
Now, hold both hoops in one hand, and tug and jerk gently while trying the
knob of the door. It will eventually give way, if the lock isn't TOO
strong.

Yes, but it's rather difficult. You can't just use 2 paperclips like they do in the movies. Inside of locks there are teeth. These teeth all have to be pushed upward at the same time in order to release the locking mechanism. The problem is, the teeth are at different lengths, hence why most keys are jagged. In order to open it, you would need to shape a wire object (a paperclip) much like the key that matches it. If you have a professional lockpick, some come with built in springs that can be adjusted to fit the teeth of the lock.

Get a Switch knife, place it up to the lock, and release the blade into the lock.

yeah i remember that part happy: but anyways man u could make a small bomb by tieing a roll of firecrackers 2gether, and then placing lighter fluid inside of a small tube, such as an bottle cap, and then tie the bottle cap to the firecrackers roll and make sure u cover the botlecap with foil or something and then light it and ure desk droor should open happy:

It has EVERYTHING you need to know. It even tells you some other stuff about which locks to pic, what the materials are, etc. Good website.

you need a tension wrench and a quarter diamond pick or a snake pick. and start from the bottom of the lock and hit all the pins so they bind. i pick master locks all the time and i can usually get it in a few seconds, now deadbolts and cerrated pins are a bitch to do.

I hate to burst your bubble but whoever said make a "bomb" out of 2 firecrackers has never even touched metal because metal is hard as fuck. Theres no way in hell a couple of piss ant firecrackers can open a lock its just pure bs. Youd obviously need a lock pick kit and some know how. Like Sam Whats his face off Splinter cell. Locking picking was one of the cool things that made that game so great.
