Stop Stealing Our Models!

That is just one example of blatant theivery of models from the Day of Defeat community. Being an active member of that community and an beginner modeler myself it really pisses me off to see the hard work of Nomad, Poly, and the others ripped off by someone who wants to take credit for others' hard work. It's not the converting that's the problem, it's the god damn lack of credit. Christ, guarnere and Hobbs took all the credit for Nomad, Poly, and P_willy's hard work. I speak for the entire DoD community when I say this has to stop now.

I sign this too.

2ltben! Whats up man? Its me, 1944, from the forums. Glad to see you posting here. They really are not talented enough to make models of their own, so that explains why they are doing what they are doing. Sorry for the trouble. I hope the rest of the DoD community puts their .02 in as well.

05-24-2003 10:26 PM

I blatantly agree, I had a situation in which one of my models was stolen, good thing I embed watermarks now. cool:

Innoxx 05-24-2003 10:26 PM

Good work guys.... show them who's boss.

PFC. Berquist 05-24-2003 10:26 PM

Agreed, stop this nonsense now. It is pure theavery and must be stopped.

FACTS
1. You can't expect to own anything when you give it away for free.
2. Nobody can control this.
3. It's gonna happen again if you give it out.
4. I'm glad I don't model.

FICTION
1. People give a shit if they steal your work.
2. You own a part in q3 copywrite.
3. Michael Jackson's face is real.

MPowell1944 05-24-2003 10:29 PM

Sorry Gen, but by looking at what you just posted, I would have to disagree. It might not be 2ltben's models, but they are the property of the DoD creators. Say what you just said to their face. I am sure the answer you recieve would not appeal to you.

Hobbs 05-24-2003 10:31 PM

heres some more facts....

Innoxx has sex with that she-male on his sig.

you can add me to messenger if you wish to discuss this further but as far as i know no DOD mod has been released for mohaa. so im not sure what ur all worked up about.

HS The Whap 05-24-2003 10:32 PM

Wow, what a useless post Cobra.
Lets analyze this:

1) You can't expect to own anything when you give it away for free.
Sure you can, you should expect that people's deciency would allow them to give cridet for something that they can't do. Stealing is the ultimate form of flattery, because people that steal (Models/Skins/Graphics) are generally too stupid to learn how to do it them selfs. Grow some common deciency.

2) Nobody can control this
Admins can, its called the ban feature.

3) Its going to happen agian if you give it out
See my responce to #1

4) I'm glad I don't model
Me too.

1) People give a shit if they steal your work
No, your right. But they give a shit when they get banned for stealing work.

ToeNail 05-24-2003 10:37 PM

Yes There have beeen alot of "converting modling thing going on".
Im really suprised there isnt a person that could actually make great models like the modders with CS and DOD. In my opinion I think that any model should be asked to be modded with permission from the author.

:Hybrid: 05-24-2003 10:37 PM

lol, goodthinking.....perfect timing

Hobbs 05-24-2003 10:45 PM

this is so pointless guys. Go back to your DOD forums.

1. we have given credit to all the modlers
2. no DOD mod has been released
3. milla is hot!

PROVE IT!

Ok I've had just about enough. Post the written copy write of these models and I will beleive you. I want the number it self. No need to plame just post the copywrite. YOU CAN'T own something that was never yours.
PROVE IT!

Dr. Deleto 05-24-2003 10:52 PM

well I myself have converted I think 2 Day of Defeat models, the KAR and an m14 (I think it was from day of defeat). but I never said I myself modeled any of these myself. In fact out of the 2 day of defeat models Ive converted, I never released the m14, and the KAR had a full list of credits to the original modelers in the readme. Ive also converted a few counterstrike models and they also had full readme's. but come on, is this really worth all this? I used to model custom planes for Combat Flight sim, and I wouldnt have blown it to this proportion over 1 or 2 being converted to flight sim 2000. I would be kind of flattered that these people thought mine was that good that they should convert it. but you also have to realize this before you come here flaming anyone, it takes a good deal of work still to convert these models. wouldnt it have been much more civilized to just come on and do like Innoxx and just say politely that the readme's should have credits in them? seems like that would work better. Especially since none of the models in question have been released to the public. just my thoughts on all this.

05-24-2003 10:53 PM

Dude Hobbs, read the embedded watermark and timestamp in your "models", they're trademarked to someone else, many of which trademarked to DoD.net.

Get TSRemover (timestamp) and then rip models.

Moron.

Joe Anderson 05-24-2003 10:57 PM

As an active member of the Day of Defeat Modeling community with several of my own models released on the DOD forums, its sickens me to see what these forums over here are up to. Over at the DOD forums, there is a mutual respect between the people doing the actual skinning and modeling and the community that downloads it. We also have Moderators who take the time to actually moderate the posts that go up. Any flamers of any kind are swiftly given the boot and order is restored. I seriously feel dumber after reading some posts here as there is absolutely NO sense of community or respect amongst people. Thank god our forums are not full of people like there are here. Personally, if I ever see any of my models being used on these forums there will be hell to pay unless that person first asks my permission to use my work and if I do give permission, there must be ABSOLUTLY NO DOUBT that the model is mine and that the person releasing it here just converted it or did a little tweaking to it. Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES should anything be released without prior consent by the creator of the model, skin, anything and claimed as ones own work. Ok thats my 2 cents.

Anderson

PS- To Hobbes.....I have so far counted 3 models that I personally have downloaded from the DOD forums that have been released here on your forums with other people taking complete credit for DOD modelers hard work. No mention of the original creators is given in either the release or the readme of the models that were ripped to these forums...Hard to make your case when the evidence is SO not in your favor. Check the facts before you make statements.

Innoxx 05-24-2003 10:57 PM

I'm not going to lower myself to your level and enter a flaming contest with you.

I admit that I smurfed many times in the past, I also admit to cheating at one period of time. I no longer commit these acts of stupidity.

The only things I use are my HK23 skins, and a few other modern weapon skins, as well as Dr. Deleto's M1 w/Bayonet.

You are the loser that must steal other people's work, instead of doing your own.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it, loser.

"We also have Moderators who take the time to actually moderate the posts that go up. Any flamers of any kind are swiftly given the boot and order is restored."

I hope you get booted soon too!
How can you say we're stealing models when we give the modelers credit? you b00ns are making no sence!

please post the copy writes as well...

05-24-2003 11:06 PM

As soon as you learn to spell it.
